Are Christians Always Happy Clappy ?

Hurt

Is it True, do we always have to be Happy Clappy because we are Christians, can we express disappointment, hate or dislike and even cry and if something is wrong, should we remain quiet and not seek to correct error in case we offend someone who disagrees with us or when they accuse us of error even though they offer no  Scriptural confirmation. Jesus warned us that some in our family, friends and even in the Church will reject us when we follow Him according to His will and stand up for His Truth and that we may even be Martyred but great will be our reward in Heaven.

Psalm 94:16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

Luke 21:16-18 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my Name’s sake.

John 15:17-19 These things I command you, that ye Love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of Love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.

Luke 6:21-23 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in Heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the Prophets.

Compassion

God gave us emotions to express and there is a time for every emotion, none are prohibited even hate or anger, we are to hate what is evil but we are to resolve our fleshy anger and not seek revenge or hold onto bitterness and resentment but this is not meaning that we have to like or accept the evil they have done to hurt us.

Ecclesiastes 3:1- 8 (4) A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;(KJV)

Romans 12:9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

.
HURTING
Have you expressed disappointment or hurt only to be told your negative or feeling sorry for yourself and that you should have the Joy of The Lord. Jesus was known as a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief and He cried but knowing He was Loved by The Father gave Him deep inner Joy even with tears in His eyes and we too have His Joy which is expressed by our Faith in our  God of Love even when we are suffering.

Comforting

We are the Body of Christ and we are to comfort the hurting and even cry with them, yes the world tells us to Laugh or we will cry alone but Jesus tells us to come to Him when we are hurting and He will comfort us and as He comforts us we comfort others and to do so we need to know they are hurting, it is not a sin to express our True feelings, we can be real and not wear a happy mask.

Matthew 11:28 – 30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Romans 12:15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

.
COMFORT

Jesus knew and warned us that we would have trouble in this World and He does not expect us to be Happy Clappy about what we suffer but to rejoice that He will be with us as we go through it, comforting us and giving us the strength to endure and He will reassure us that all things will work out for good in our lives.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Yes we can rejoice even in suffering but not for what we suffer but that we have The Lord to hold on to in hardship knowing He will bring good out of it and being patient and Trusting in Him to do so we persevere instead of giving up as some do who have no Hope, we can be assured that He never leaves us to suffer alone and that He heals the broken hearted He doesn’t send them away hurting with empty, cold words.

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of Peace and not of evil, to give you a Future and a Hope.

Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the Children of men.

Christian Love in our Unity in Christ Jesus -Anne.

I have been a part of a woman’s Bible study group this summer that has been a great time of sharing. Several of the woman have had some really tough things going on in their lives and the group has been one of praying together and just being good friends for one another. One of the things we have talked about in this class is exactly what your blog post is about. We just can not be happy clappy all the time. We were made with emotions and life on this earth can be really hard at times. Thankfully Jesus will walk through it with us during those hard times. Great post Anne. Have a wonderful day!

    • Thanks T for sharing and it’s good that your Bible Study Ladies are all in agreement that we need to not just to talk about Loving each other but to show it too.

After I wrote this Post T and it was based on personal experience as well as others who have shared with me over the years, I was waiting at the Doctors and a woman in her thirties started talking to me, after a while she shared about her Children and than asked if I had any, I told her all my 7 babies were in Heaven, she than said that 3 of hers were there too.

During the following conversation I asked her if she went to Church, she told me after taking a deep breath that she had gone to one when she was grieving after loosing her son but they just told her to get over it! she never went back to Church, I than told her about my Church and she seemed interested, I hope she comes, I will be praying she does.

Thanks again T – Christian Love Always – Anne.

Sadly sometimes it is the people in church who keep people away. Thankfully that woman met you. I hope she comes to your church too. Your kindness and caring are something she needed glad you were there to share with her. Have a wonderful day today!

“Happy Clappy” does indeed give people a wrong impression of Christians. I am blessed to have close friends to be with me during times of trials and times when God’s light bubbles over! I can only pray that no matter what I am going through non believers see how God works in me.

A long time ago (now I can’t remember where), I heard the difference between happiness and joy. Happiness is based on our circumstances while joy is based on our relationship with the LORD.

I really like Hebrews 12:2, :Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” May the joy of Jesus Christ help us to with trials in this life. I say this not to minimize suffering, which is very real, but to help us endure.

    Prayers for you Annie!

    • Thanks for sharing Debbie and I agree, I have often shared this Truth in my comments and Posts. It’s real to me, it’s not just a concept, I have experienced those who put on a happy face and expect everyone else to do the same even when they are suffering instead of offering them God’s Love and Compassion, The Scriptures tell us; God will dry our tears and He uses our hankie for others.

    • Very True Diane and as the Scripture confirms we don’t have to wear a mask, we can be real, life is not about being Happy Clappy but having deep inner Joy which is expressed in Faith in our Abba Father even when we are hurting.

Great blog! I went through a very difficult time in my life seven years ago that put me into a depressed state. Every time I tried to talk to someone about how I felt, I kept on hearing you are not a Christian if all you can do is talk about your problems or disappointments. These words came from so-called friends and pastors. So many people get the wrong idea what a Christian should be like. Like you said in your blog, people think we should always be happy and joyful, no cares or worry. Even as Christians we go through opposition and we need someone to talk to and encourage us. My pastor in my current church, which I love, always says, “It’s okay not to be okay.” I love that! Come as you are! You don’t have to put on a mask and pretend everything is okay. Thank you for the encouraging word today!

    • Thank you for sharing April and for your Loving encouragement and yes I too have been rejected for being honest about my feelings more than once but after listening to God in my heart as confirmed by the Scriptures and also ignoring others negativity about me, I realized it was their lack and not mine, God lifts us up even if others put us down.

How wonderful that you now have a Pastor April with the right focus who expresses Godly wisdom shown by his Love and Compassion and because of this and his obedience to God’s Truth, his Church will be a healthy Church and will shine in the darkness as you do too.

I have once again been having Computer and Provider problems April but I will seek to catch up with your recent Posts over the coming week, I would also like to share the song below with you again, to remind us both how much we are Loved by God and those He knows as His own, we are part of His beloved Family and our value to Him is beyond earthly reckoning, can we ever be good enough for Him, we already are, He sees us as complete in Christ Jesus, He knows our heart and always has.

May you be greatly blessed dear April as you continue to reach out to others with the same Love and Compassion God has shown you,

Isn’t it wonderful Anne to have a Saviour who understands us and has been there before? He loves us to come to Him as in Matt 11. and bring all the emotions we are struggling with when we are rejected by Society , we pour it all out to Him! His promise in Isaiah 43 is enough for me.

    Blessings
