Halloween and The Bounty of God’s Harvest

Shopping is something I enjoy, I meet people from all walks of life and we often chat and have a laugh, sometimes I even evangelize in a non threatening way but lately I have been saddened by all the Halloween propaganda in a lot of the Stores.

In Aussie Land Halloween has only been celebrated for a short time compared to America and other places where it has been so for many years. Most of those who are Elderly here do not remember it ever being part of our culture when they were young, sad that we now have to endure it.

To be face to face with reminders of Demons, Devils, ghosts, Witches, Vampires, some even had dripping jelly blood etc all this is very unsettling for me, when I know how much God hates evil of all types and warns against these type of things but some people follow their cultures traditions and believe if others are doing it’s OK and sadly I was the same once.What we focus on plants seeds for good and evil in our soul and we reap what we sow, this is why God tells us to focus or think about what is good. Yes we accept warnings with thankfulness about those things that are dangerous and evil and also warn others and we don’t allow evil to be part of our lives or our focus.

Philippians 4: 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The Bounty of God’s Harvest

 

We don’t celebrate The Bounty of God’s Harvest in Australia as others do, I think it’s wonderful  they have this remembrance, we need to be always thankful to God. I read that  it is for all the Season and  that at first most Churches sought to offer an alternative to Halloween not to compete with it but inadvertently celebrated their thankfulness to God on the same night as Halloween, October 31st, there by giving the impression they were supporting it, not only to other Christians but to those who don’t believe in our God.

Today in some Churches when their celebrating The Bounty of God’s Harvest the costumes and memorabilia are the same as used for Halloween and they are indeed evil reminders of ungodly Pagan worship, which is deep darkness reflected in evil.

 

 

But also  some Churches it seems are more interested in promoting Pagan rituals then God’s blessings, maybe hoping their numbers will increase but God makes it very clear we cannot be friends with the world and Him too, to join together in Holy Communion and also celebrate  Pagan practices, (1Corinthians10:21 ) is not only harmful but is disobedient.

 

 

Candy, like all God’s gifts can be used for good or evil,  reward or pleasure. God is a God of balance, He created the Sugar cane and Honey but warns too much will make us sick, candies, cakes etc are not the forbidden fruit, disobedience is, it’ the fruit of the evil flesh and when eaten brings spiritual death.

Let’s also not overlook the Truth that just like Christmas and Easter, this time of year was no doubt chosen by Satan to devalue God’s Bounty Time and His greater blessing in His sacrificial Love shown by the wonderful gift of His Son Jesus Christ. Satan no doubt used  these times of year to promote and celebrate his evil works instead.

 

 

Instead of  Trick or Treat,  wouldn’t it be nice if Children with supervision at any time of the year, gave a gift of Love instead of asking for something with the threat of punishment if not given a treat, I have heard of some very unpleasant tricks.

What is very much needed  at this time of unrest as we draw nearer to Jesus’ return, is for all Churches to show their rejection of Halloween by celebrating God’s Blessing in His Bounty of The Harvest at another time of the Season. So if those in Leadership in our Churches are indeed genuine in wanting to show Godliness in their motivation to celebrate this time of year, they will seek to do this, presenting to unbelievers a clear distinction between Halloween and Thankfulness to our God.

It’s interesting that we were not sent any Posts about Halloween,  perhaps they feel I will be upset  or is it that I might comment, yes Truth will hurt if we are doing the wrong thing and we will feel guilty, but some will ignore correction, others  justify or blame others, but  if it  causes people who profess to be Christian to stop promoting what God calls evil,  then it’s beneficial and needed.
