~Amazing Grace ~

I have chosen to publish again  Amazing Grace,  John Newton’s True Story which expresses Gods unconditional Love in a very profound why.

I also want to share with your a great message and Vidio by The Watchman,  highliting once again how Awesome is our God of Love – http://setwatchman.com/2011/10/28/hot-track-amazing-grace-by-jotta-a/

John Newton’s devout Mother dedicated him to be a Pastor at an early age.  Sadly, she died when he was seven.  At the age of eleven, after several years of schooling away from home, he went to sea with his Captain father.  He served in the British Navy, but later deserted.

John abandoned the faith taught by his Mother and embarked on such a life of extreme debauchery that his friends questioned his sanity.  He signed onto a Slave ship and was soon the Master of his own ship, dealing in the evil of bringing slaves from Africa to America.  With a whip in one hand and a gun in the other, Newton  often given to drunkenness and lust — sank into the depths of sin.  In 1748, at age twenty-three, he ran into a savage storm that threatened to sink his ship.

Newton thought of himself, like Jonah, as the cause of the mountainous waves and raging wind.  His close brush with death set him thinking about the true meaning of life. The Holy Spirit used the storm to convict him of his need for Christ.  Sick of his pitiable condition and the filthy Slave trade, he was led to leave it and ultimately go into the Ministry….

But it took many years for John to find the right road, he said at that time”…”I cannot consider myself to have been a believer in the full sense of the word’ until a considerable time afterwards.

Like John Wesley He believed in this life because of the confirmation of Scripture and The Holy Spirit within,  that  Christians could come to a state in which the Love of God, or perfect Love, reigned supreme in their hearts…and so with heartfelt thankfulness he once again humbly proclaimed…  ” Amazing Grace how sweet the sound “

Later John’s life did reflect Christ’s presence within and his actions showed his Love for his Awesome Saviour and Redeemer and as he walked in Jesus’ righteousness John was also faithful to do what was righteous… he had indeed been set free from the bondage of sin and sought to be perfected in Love.

1 John 3 :6-7 Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.

~ The Song, Amazing Grace ~

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me….
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

T’was Grace that taught…
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear…
the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares…
we have already come.
T’was Grace that brought us safe thus far…
and Grace will lead us home.

The Lord has promised good to me…
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be…
as long as life endures.

When we’ve been here ten thousand years…
bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise…
than when we first begun.

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me….
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

My Denomination – Ihave been asked more than once what Denomination I belong to, perhaps recently because of my Posts highlighting different People of different Christian beliefs. In the years I have walked with The Lord I was  a member of one Church for 20 years and another for almost 8 years but I have also been involved in some way with most Denominations in my Ministries and I thankfully and with respect uphold  anyone regardless of their Denomination who stands up for God’s Truth and glorifies Him in their heart and shows  this in their Loving words and actions. I call myself a Christian  first and foremost meaning Jesus Christ  within and I follow Him.

If you love Hymns then have a visit with Jeanne at her Blog  Woman’s Window it is really wonderful to remember again all those beautiful uplifting words of Hope and Joy in The Lord.

Yes you are right God is Love and Love never gives up but how much we must hurt Him when we continue to sin how wonderful when we don’t and show our Love for Him too.

  5. Thanks so much for the post here, Anne. Would you believe Amazing Grace is losing favor with some denominations and being removed from their hymnals? It is one the more recent hymns to have become so popular.

Hi Jeanne, yes I have experienced this with some Churches, I asked why they were replacing all the hymns with the modern disco type songs and was told …. well the elderly have to get with it their just being selfish…. wow is that a reversal.

When people follow God’s guidelines again instead of what they think is best then we will have harmony in our Churches, real harmony..

Thanks for sharing you always encourage me greatly – Christian Love Anne

Contemporary praise/worship songs are beautiful but cannot replace the traditional hymns in which so many Biblical truths are expressed.

On another note Anne, each time I open your site my computer slows conderably. Could this be connected with your comment problems?

    Merry Christmas!

Hi isaiah43123 yes I also love hymns and all music, it is a gift from God even if man messes it up with Technology and adds words that are in error, this is why even with the old hymns we need to be careful. God tells us to have a balance in our Christen worship as you can see in the Scripture below. Many of the elderly are hurting because the hymns they loved and that spoke to them are all being replaced by the disco, repetitive songs of today but yes some of these are also beautiful and speak to the youth, this is why we need a balance.

Colossians 3:15-17 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

It maybe because I live in Australia isaiah that the signals are weaker but apparently it can also be your receiver, it may need a boost.

Thank you for sharing isaiah43123, you are a blessing, I always enjoy your thoughts and advice.

      Christian Love Anne.

Awe inspiring and amazing! Thank you for sharing this story of GODS power and grace. It confirms that GOD will take the most unlikely and unqualified to bring HIM glory by showing His GRACE. HE does it everyday.

Yes so True pureheart33 in fact He said He would use the rejected and despised, who others consider foolish, as we can see in the Scripture below. So many are searching for popularity even with blogging but God chooses those who the world rejects to achieve His good plans.

1 Corinthians 1:27-29 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
