In Memory of Julie for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I Posted this remembrance for Julie last year in October for Cancer Awareness Month, it’s been three years since my beautiful Sister died of Cancer, she was  58 six months older than me. Before I was Adopted  we became  friends, I remember following her home from School because I thought she was so nice, she had such a beautiful, warm smile.  Julie married for the second time a few months before she died,  she helped others in her life to feel wanted and raised money to help support and care for those in need but sadly she left her Childhood faith in Jesus and went  in the wrong direction the same as I did but before she died Jesus our Lord and Saviour rescued her and in thankfulness she asked for the Old Rugged Cross to be played at her funeral.

The following True Story is in remembrance of all we shared together the good times and the bad … I Love you Julie, thanks for being my friend when nobody else wanted to because of my being Dyslectic, I look forward to being with you again, not just for a few years but for ever.

The Wedding

On  Saturday January 15, 2005 Katie Kirkpatrick, 21 Married Nick Godwin, 23 who was in Love with her since 11th grade.
Katie  held off Lung Cancer to celebrate the happiest day of her life. To Breath was difficult for her and so she had to use oxygen. The pain in her back was so intense that even Morphine gave little relief as Katie’s organs were shutting down, but it would not stop her from
Marrying her  Nick.
Katie seeing a photograph of herself when she was Homecoming Queen
at High School remembers a time when Cancer was not part of her life
but Nick is always there for her and this comforts Katie.
Katie and Nick wait for the nurse to come and start Katie’s treatment, although Nick works night shift he still takes Katie to the Medical centre after  finishing work.  Three days before their Wedding Katie is tired from not being able to sleep at night because of her pain.
Nick  takes a moment of rest while Katie gets an intravenous procedure
to reduce the amount of fluids her body is retaining.
Her Mum Niki takes time of work to care for Katie who now needs
 constant assistance
Katie now experiencing a lot of pain only a few days before her Wedding
relies on Morphine and other medications to help her.
Katie happily puts on some earrings knowing in a few moments she
will be walking down the aisle to Marry Nick at the
Church of Christ in Hazel Park.
Dave and Nicki welcome  Nick their new Son In Law right after
 Nick and Katie were married.
Katie and Nick  spend some precious moments together
after the wedding.
Katie gets serenaded by Nick and his best man during the Wedding party and her Joy overshadows the  Pain for a short time.
Taking  time out to rest during her Wedding party, Katie is exhausted
and in pain but her heart is full of Joy.
After Marrying  Nick her High School sweetheart, Katie lived only five more days .  She leaves rich memories of her Courage and Hope in face of  overwhelming suffering and pain…
Katie and Nick did not give up but held onto the Hope that they had a future which could not be calculated in terms of Days or Hours but in the fullness of realising their Dream and rejoicing that it became a reality…
Their Love lives on… for every Heart that remembers a flame burns  bright and no amount of time can dim the light.
Lets light a Candle of Hope by taking time out to Pray for all those suffering Terminal illness and for their Loved ones and also lets also seek to give  of our time and resources.

“A Candle loses nothing if it is used to light another one… So as we light someone else’s candle our flame will also burn brightly too.

  1. A very special story. How good that Jesus brought your sis back to Himself! What a wonderful couple she and Nick make!

Hi Tricia, yes it was wonderful that Julie had heart repentance and accepted the free Gift of Salvation in Christ Jesus before she died. God had told me a year before that both her and my Mum would be saved eternally before they died and also that they would live untill they did, at the time they were both dieing in Hospitial in Intensive care, yes Mum is still alive and in her ninties now and amazingly still drives a car.

I chose this True Story of Katie Kirkpatrick and Nick Godwin in rememberance of Julie because it reminded me that True Love accepts the good with the bad and remains commited, God never gives up on us but it is always our choice to accept Him, He never goes against our free will but He chooses us even before we are concieved to be conformed into the image of Jesus Christ His Son, knowing we will accept His Awesome Love and Grace given through His sacrifice.

      Christian Love Anne

Such a lovely story of courage and the will to fight pain and suffering, all who have lost loved ones know the ache of their lose. Your sister Julie and you will have a reunion again in glory, and share a happiness again. Thanks Anne , the awareness of breast cancer and such ,is a good thing to have before us we can pray.

    • Freedomborn says:

Thank you Love and for your support when Julie died, it was hard being so far away from her and knowing I couldn’t even speak to her, the last time I did though I told her we Loved her and so does Jesus, she didn’t fog me off like she had done before, she listened but I never got to say goodbye but then as you shared and I have too, it isen’t goodbye.

      Christian Love – Anne

  3. Lady Deidre says:

A lovely tribute to your sister! The wedding is awesome — what a wonderful young couple. I’m just sorry it was too short.
    God Bless You!

    • Freedomborn says:

Hi Dei thank you for visiting it’s always a Joy when you can and yes I agree we need not wast a moment, life on earth is too short but then we will have Eternity …. How good is That!

Be over soon to see what you are up to, no please! no more spiders, or snakes! although they will be next on my list to Post, well at least dangerous things even if not them 😦

      Christian Love Annie.

  4. Intensely emotional story. It is so touching to have encountered this in real life; it feels more like a movie. The kind of hope and endurance exhibited until their dreams came true is sincerely rare. Some loving friends play their roles and move on. God grants us the fortitude to bear the loss and the grace to keep on living. Don’t relent with doing good. Someday, like you said, there will be a reuniting, never to part again. Be on the Lord’s side.

Hi teeceecounsel, thank you for adding to the message, it encourages me greatly when you do, your wisdom reflects your caring heart. I believe when we Love with God’s Love, we don’t want to hurt those we Love, it’s like 2=2 it’s just the way it is, we don’t have to make ourselves not cause them pain, we would rather hurt ourselves and if we really Love them, we want to make them Happy and regarless of what we have to give up or not have or we have to do, we are always willing… True Love has no fleshy boundries it always Loves.

I hope to visit you again teeceecounsel, before we go on Holidays, I had thought of doing so sooner but with having Computer problems because of WP plug -ins, I have not had much time, I was advised to let others know so the errors could be corrected, your blessed not to have them and so others can leave a Like if wanted, also I’m packing so time is short. When we get home I hope to continue a Christmas Blog I started last year but never finished, I Love Christmas.

I would like to ask you something teeceecounsel, do you know what it feels like to be bored, Hummmm perhaps a day or two would help 🙂

Be in touch soon Christian Love from both of us – Anne.

  5. T says:

This is beautiful and so was Julie, very heart touching, thank you for sharing Julie.

    • Freedomborn says:

Wow T your Beautiful even more so then the flowers, so wonderful you have shared the real you, yes true Beauty is within but then you have a beautiful heart too that is seeking God’s will but to be honest for me you seem more real, I can look into your eyes and feel your presence, thank you.

Thank you for your kind words too T, I miss Julie but she is in my heart so we are not really apart and I know we will be together always one day but please pray for my younger Sister she believes in Buddhism and rejects me as a Christian, I Love her but have great fears for her and her family. Buddhism like the Cults is a locked door that only Jesus can open but they have to want Him too.

      Christian Love Anne.

      • T says:

Thank YOU Anne. I will also pray for you younger sister, may I ask her first name? Don’t ever give up there is always hope!

        • Freedomborn says:

Hi T, I have never given up on anybody in my life, I believe it is because so many people gave up on me even as a baby but Jesus never did even though I deserved it .

Kathy my younger Sister was not going to allow me to go to Julie’s funeral and wouldn’t let me talk to her either before she died, because being a Christian I was bad Karma but Julie’s Son in Law insisted. The Funeral was based on Buddhism and they said Julie was coming back as a butterfly. Kathy and Julie were very close, so Kathy was heart broken and so were some others in the family, it wasn’t fair that I lived and she didn’t.

When I first believed in Jesus most of my family including Mum wouldn’t have anything to do with me, instead they abused me. Mum said I was brain washed, I agreed and said my brain needed washing it was so full of rubbish, they said it was just a crutch, I agreed and said they help us from falling over and that is what Jesus does for me, they said I was an idiot, I agreed, it took me too long to choose to follow Jesus, they said I was worthless, I agreed that was why I needed Jesus so I would be of immense value.

Who won Jesus did, Julie changed her mind and called out to Him, I continue to pray for the rest of my family to do the same.

          Christian Love Anne
