Tyler’s Story and a Prayer request

It started at conception.  A genetic defect that would profoundly alter three lives — four, including mine, too.

The seeds of tragedy, pain and victory were born in a tiny little boy named Tyler Lee on May 22, 1984.  I held him for the first time when he was not quite 12 hours old.  His parents were — and are — my two best friends.  And now I had a third best friend, this perfect miracle, this baby boy.

By the time he was six months, we all noticed something wrong.  He wasn’t sitting up.  He had trouble rolling over.  Constant constipation plagued him.  At eight months, his parents took him to a specialist.  Emotional, uncertain days and many tests later, their doctor told them, “I’m very sorry.  Your baby has Hoffman-Werding disease.  It’s the most virulent form of muscular dystrophy”.  Into the silence that followed his words, the doctor added, “Tyler will never walk, probably never sit up.  He probably won’t live much beyond the age of 2”.  The tests clearly confirmed the terrible diagnosis.  Tyler had almost no muscle development.  Not even his intestines could work properly.

That night we sat silently together, sharing our tears, holding and cherishing their little Tyler.  The pain was too new, too raw.

They called me on Sunday to say that they were having a prayer meeting with friends and the elders from their church Monday night.  They were going to anoint Tyler with oil and ask for God’s healing — in faith that no matter what the answer was, God knew best and loved Tyler even more than they did.  Of course I’d be there, even though absolutely nothing in my conservative background had ever considered such a bold assault on Heaven.  Monday evening the elders from their church and their closest friends gathered in the family room with Tyler.  Heart joined heart in prayers both silent and verbal as we approached the Throne of Heaven for Tyler’s healing.  There was one focus, one accord, one hope in God our Heavenly Father.

The next day, Tuesday, Tyler had another appointment with the specialist.  His parents called me the moment they reached home.  “He’s healed — completely!  God gave us our miracle!”  God instantly, miraculously, divinely healed Tyler Lee Roark that night.  Where there had been no muscle function, now every muscle function in his body tested absolutely normal that Tuesday morning.  “It’s a miracle”, his doctor said, “I can’t explain it.  He’s a perfectly normal eight-month-old baby.  Take him home”.

Today, Tyler is a healthy, active 11-year-old who gave his heart to Jesus as Saviour five years ago.  Tyler holds national long-distance track titles and state records in both Iowa and Oklahoma.  Untrained and uncoached, Tyler’s running ability is a gift.  He started setting state records when he was 9; his first national title came as a 10-year-old.  He has a room filled with trophies and ribbons … and a humble spirit that lets him enjoy running — whether he wins or loses.  He’s the first to congratulate others and be happy for them if they win.  He knows that winning isn’t the only reason he’s there.  He knows that his ability is a gift from God and that he’s there to glorify his Heavenly Father by running, by doing his best, and showing others Christ in him.

God has chosen to give Tyler a tremendous athletic ability that has brought him media attention, both TV and newspaper.  And in every interview, his parents joyfully give God the glory and tell how Tyler was healed.

    • Hi John, Thanks for visiting and sharing, yes it’s a wonderful True Story of God’s Love and Mercy shown in a Miraculous way, often it’s not as noticeable but God is the only Healer regardless of the tools He uses, like Medicine and Doctors etc.

Do you visit Blogs often John, have you had one? in Australia it seems Facebook is the main focus, keep in touch if you can.

      Blessings – Anne.

Thanks for sharing. I’m glad that I found this testimony bc my son just got diagnosed via gene testing with duchenne muscular dystrophy and my husband and I have decided to believe God!

Yesterday I received this comment on Taylors Story from a woman about her son, at the time I answered as I felt led but praying for her again last night and this morning I felt the need to share with you all and ask for your Prayers as the Family of God.

Those who know me are aware that God has intervened in my life both with Miraculous healings and Signs and Wonders, I will share more about these as we journey together. My healings have been medically documented although the Doctors cannot explain how I suddenly recovered but yes they have attempted to offer some explanation but they cannot be substantiated by the facts. We have also witnessed Wendy’s recovery and I’m sure you know of others who have experienced genuine healings or Signs and Wonders, I do and they have been unable to be explained by man or duplicated fully, they are not counterfeit or deception although there are many that are and it is why we need to test the spirit of those who claim them to be True but not our own understanding but by the Holy Spirit as confirmed in the Scriptures .

I know God does not always intervene in a Miraculous way, we have His gift of medicine and Doctors etc and much research is a blessing but of course not all and then we have natural remedies which when understood are beneficial. We also have healing after sin is repented of, as some of our illnesses are the result of unconfessed sin, we need to remember too as we age our bodies wear out but in Christ Jesus our spirits don’t and we can soar with Him.

God always intervenes in the Lives of His Children and safeguards us spiritually ,we are never alone through the hard times, Satan cannot cause us to fall away and reject Jesus Christ, God keeps our spirit strong by the empowering of The Holy Spirit. Death is a part of the fallen world but spiritual death is of the flesh, as Christians we must put our evil flesh to death by the Spirit so we will be strong in The Lord as we reach out to a hurting World.

God bless you all greatly – Christian Love from us both.

Isaiah 43:1-3 Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Dear 123, my heart is with you at this very difficult time in your life and I realise what a big load it is for you but I’m so thankful you have given it to the Lord, and what is so wonderful is that the both of you and your son are greatly Loved by Him , He has not caused your son to have this illness no more then He did mine but yes He knew it would happen and He prepared you for it as He did me. I don’t know if God will intervene, He has with me with other illnesses and events in my life, I should have died 3 times, but I’m still disabled. It is something I accept and have even found things I can be thankful for, one thing recently is being able to Blog as much as I do, which means I can share from my heart my Love for the Lord and give others Hope and even with Tech problems I have so much Joy doing this. I have a wonderful Scripture for you to hold onto and please never let go of the Trust you have in our God of Love, He will never let you go through anything without Him being beside you to get you through it. I’m going to pray for your son and for both of you as The Holy Spirit brings you to my heart and mind.

Thanks Dei and some say Miracles are a thing of the past the same as signs and wonders God hasn’t changed but man has become very complacent with what does happen today that can’t be explained, they would prefer to believe in magic and delusion.

Beautiful testimony of God’s love and faithfulness. I can imagine Him watching as the roomful of prayer warriors gathered with “one focus, one accord, one hope in God our Heavenly Father” then pumping his fist in victory shouting, “Yes, you got it right, my children!”
