Many years ago, a Church in Atlanta was honouring one of its Senior Pastors who had been retired many years…
He was 92 and after a warm welcome and introduction of this speaker and when the applause quieted down, He rose from his chair and walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gait to the podium….
Without a note or written paper of any kind, he placed both hands on the Pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly he began to speak…
“When I was asked to come here today and talk to you, your Pastor asked me to tell you what was the greatest lesson ever learned in my 50 odd years of Preaching… I thought about it for a few days and boiled it down to just one thing that made the most difference in my life and sustained me through all my trials…
The one thing that I could always rely on when tears and heart-break and pain and fear and sorrow paralysed me…
The only thing that would Comfort was this verse…
“Jesus Loves me this I know. For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, we are weak but He is Strong…Yes, Jesus Loves me…The Bible tells me so.”
When he finished, the Church was quiet.
You actually could hear his foot steps as he shuffled back to his chair. This simple but Heart moving message will stay in many hearts.
Psalm 92:14 They shall still bear fruit in old age. They shall be fresh and flourishing.
A Pastor once stated, “I always noticed that its was the Adults who chose the Children’s Hymn ‘Jesus Loves Me’ (for the Children of course) during a Hymn Sing Along , and it was the adults who sang the loudest because
I could see they knew it the best.”

Hi our dear friend Island Traveler, I was praying for you tonight and a few nights ago too, we missed you and your family that you share with us, no doubt your work can be heavy at times, you see things that many don’t. I believe it takes a very compassionate and caring person to be a Nurse and you are both and yes Jesus Loves you greatly He told me so in The Bible and in my heart too.

Hi Gayle, thank you for your uplifting words and it is so very True, we all need Love and we also all need to Love, we were created to Love 100% but we can only do this when we are perfected in God’s Love, we can’t do it in our flesh, we ask God for His Pure Love so we can deeply Love Him and others sacrifially and He gives us His Living Water the Heart of Jesus overflowing.

Yes its true isnt it, that he simplest truths of the gospel, eg. ‘Jesus loves me for the bible tells me so.’ The most profound concepts and doctrinal truths are most easily accepted and understood , in the simplicity of a childrens song . Our Lord said become as children in you faith. Thanks for the great pictures.

Very True Love, little children are Trusting and dependant, they don’t doubt that they are Loved by their Parents when they are treated as a blessing from God, sadly some like you and me were not Loved as God wanted us to be but He was always there for us, we are greatly Loved by Him and always will be.
