Why Worry…..

When I first met Ron he said I would worry if I had nothing to worry about and added you know Anne, the things you worried about yesterday never happened, yes I said that is because worry works. (an oldie but goodie)

But seriously, people will say to you don’t worry, don’t get angry, don’t be depressed, don’t fear or have doubts, don’t be sad,  perhaps you can think of others, for me it was confusion and then just in case you have doubts about the evil in expressing these emotions, they give you Scripture that they think confirms what they are sharing, some will even tell you they are sin and so you are weighed down with guilt.

Scripture can uplift or reveal our need to change and convict us of what is not in line with God’s guidelines and this is to help us not to condemn us but it is our choice if we listen and obey or disobey and we reap what we sow good and bad.

Is laughing sin, is being excited sin, is feeling Joy sin, of course not, our emotions are God-given, the pleasant  ones we enjoy,  the painful ones are a warning that something is wrong, just the same as  physical pain…. even guilt is a warning that we are in need of help.

God wants us to resolve these feelings not repress them and then pretend to be Happy Clappy, and  wear a mask , when we do we can’t be real and we don’t believe others are.

It is not sin to express justifiable anger when others hurt us, Jesus did, Paul did and so did others in Scripture. Satan will put us to the test, others will hurt us but we remember our Abba Father is wanting to help us not condemn us.

So if we are angry and have negative emotions, we don’t pretend we haven’t or they may lead to sin and God tells us not to sin in our anger but to recognise what is causing it, so it does not lead to evil which is how Satan plans it to do by using others to provoke us.

We take our negative emotions to Jesus, He knows they are a heavy burden, He takes them off our Shoulders so we can work through them with Him.
