For those who are in the Police Force although rewarding it is a very hard and a stressful Occupation and one that is not fully understood unless involved in personally. Police officers must endure long hours including shift work that is often unpredictable and crisis-driven as well as Public scrutiny and sometimes hash and unfair judgment.
With my having been evolved in Organizations that worked closely with the Police and also needing their help personally a few times myself, I found them to be very respectful and considerate of others and also in regards to my needs, offering their support and encouragement and willing to go the extra mile if needed..
It grieves me to hear the Police put down instead of commended for the work they do, of course like all Professions there is always a few who are not dedicated to the overall requirements of their role in our Communities but most Police are and give much more than expected when needed.
Below is short Poem that focuses on the Role of the Police in our Lives.
The Thin Blue Line
A Thin Blue Line winds through our Country,
Keeping us all Safe and Free.
Their lives at risk a Thankless task,
But every day this we ask.
They could be your Sister….Brother,
Protecting all like there’s no other.
Give praise to those who us Protect,
And to our Police please give respect.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 I exhort therefore that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of Thanks be made for all Men. For Kings and for all that are in Authority that we may lead a quiet and Peaceable life in all Godliness and Honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour (KJV)
Let’s Pray for our Police Force and if the opportunity presents itself Thank them also for a job well done.

Thinking of your post and Nehemiah Project’s comment, I am reminded that human nature is the same regardless of where we call home. Too often, we don’t say thanks to those police officers who put their life on the line every day for the good of others!

You may have read or seen about some of the issues we have here in the States, concerning our police and racial profiling. Unfortunately, this has given a bad name to all who wear the badge, especially when officers are not disciplined when they have committed such offenses.
Most of our police, however, are dedicated and hard working. They care about the people in their communities. They want what we all want…peaceful and safe living standards in our neighborhoods and communities.

Yes John I had heard about your Police and racial profiling but I agree with you 100% we can’t lump all Police together when just a few are at fault. Corruption is everywhere in all Professions, yes we are to be aware of it and be warned but not focus on it allowing ourselves to become fearful and bitter downgrading even those who are honorable in their chosen Profession including those in our Police Forces.
I agree with what you shared below John and the same for our Police in Aussie Land too……

Wonderful my friend, our police do a thankless job at times. They do receive awards but not often enough.

So True Bj and I would also love to see them commended for their Service to us much more often, perhaps on a Talk- Back show with people sharing about the help they have received from the Police Force. Although I don’t watch much T.V except for the News when Disasters or Floods etc are causing damage, hoping I can help in some way where there is an urgent need and by Praying but this type of Talk-Back show would really interest me.

Thank you Jenecolvin for letting me know that Lee and his family may be in danger, I hadn’t heard about the flood, I have been very busy unpacking boxes and have not watched the News lately but I have now asked a friend about the hurricane in Houston,Tx and they confirmed that it was a bad one, keeping them all in Prayer.

I was sharing Jenecolvin with Diane another Christian Blogging friend in America about Lee and his family and she is now Praying for them too but she also suggested that it may be that Power cables are down or perhaps they are in a Shelter and this could be the reason why you can’t reach Lee, hopefully it is.

There would no doubt be a number you can ring Jenecolvin to find out who are in the Shelters, they would have them recorded to be able to pass on their Names to family and friends.
Thankfully Jenecolvin Christians all over the World are now Praying like we are for all those in areas affected by the Hurricane and Prayer as we know is Powerful for good.

As the old song goes “A policeman’s life is not a happy one” all too often they have to bear the brunt of false accusations and name calling, while still carrying out their duty

I very much agree with you Graham, our Police would indeed find it hard to be Happy Clappy with the abuse they have to endure but for many they still find fulfillment in their Role of Protecting and helping us much like a Doctor or Nurse does, even though they too experience the harder realities of Life.
You have been on my mind Graham, I have prayed for you both, I hope all is now going well for you now.

My Dad retired from the police force. A very difficult and thankless job to say the least. Thankyou for this post. I also would like to request prayer for Lee Poskey (fellow wordpress Christian blogger)..he and his family live in the Houston area. Thankyou and God bless.

Thank you for visiting and sharing Jenecolvin, yes for some in the Police Force there seems to be little reward but others although experiencing hardship also find it fulfilling, perhaps it depends in which area they are assigned or choose.
Is Lee unwell Jenecolvin or has he had an accident? I have Prayed for him when we were sharing together on our Blogs but I will continue to do so now. Thanks for letting me know there is an urgent need for Prayer.
