Asking for God’s Wisdom

Jesus told us to Ask, Seek and Knock ( Matthew 7:7-8 & Luke 11:9-10) we do not just wait passively for things to happen and ignore or dismiss what is important for our Spiritual Maturity and one of the most impotent things we are to ask for is God’s Wisdom and His empowering by The Holy Spirit, none of us were Born with them, yes we all lack them but it takes a humble spirit to acknowledge our need of them and sadly many profess to be wise because of their worldly learning and so they Trust in their own understanding and others Trust in what they teach and so are deceived.

1 Corinthians 3:18-20 Let no man deceive himself, if any man among you seemeth to be wise in this World let him become a fool that he may be Wise. For the wisdom of this World is foolishness with God. For it is written; He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again; The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise that they are vain.

Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes fear the Lord and depart from evil.

The importance of asking for God’s Wisdom which is the Principle thing in getting His understanding with His empowering by The Holy Spirit, is we can than understand His Truth and having received we are than not deceived by False Teachers, Cults and error in Translations but we are not to doubt we have received them and keep asking, to do so means we are unstable and can be deceived, we Thank God instead and Trust Jesus our only Spiritual Teacher to lead us into all understanding.

Matthew 10:26-28 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light and what ye hear in the ear that preach ye upon the housetops (KJV)… perhaps our Computers today?

If you love the Scriptures like I do and value their importance in our Lives with them all being inspired by God and also love to share them, there are many more Scriptures on the Link and below, which also gives us God’s Truth in asking for His Wisdom and Empowering.

James 1:5-6 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God that giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith nothing wavering, for he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Luke 11:13 If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your Children how much more shall your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

Colossians 2 :2 -3 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in Love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

1John 2:26-28 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you and ye need not that any man teach you but as the same anointing Teacheth you of all things and is Truth and is no lie, and even as it hath Taught you, ye shall abide in Him.

The Scripture below is very important in understanding the Empowering of The Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that Love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit for the Spirit searcheth all things yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man but the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the World but the Spirit which is of God that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth but which the Holy Ghost teacheth comparing spiritual things with Spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him neither can he know them because they are Spiritually discerned. But he that is Spiritual judgeth all things yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the Mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? but we have the Mind of Christ.

Our church has a principle; “Keep the main thing the main thing!” Keeping our eyes on Jesus and continually seeking God’s wisdom is the “main thing” of our faith. (Regardless of how long we have been a Christian!)

    • Yes so True Debbie, Jesus is our only Spiritual Teacher as the Scriptures confirm and will lead us into all Truth, He may use others to share it but it will always be confirmed in Scripture, if not we reject it. When we ask in Faith we receive, that’s such a wonderful promise.

I have missed you Debbie and your Post Message but know how busy you are as you reach out to those who are hurting. Ron is handling the side affects of the Chemo well but does feel very tired for a few days after it and needs to just rest.

Below is a message about Wisdom you may appreciate on my Woman’s Blog, I’m not sure if you have visited there, I hope to start Posting again on it soon, I have not done so for a long time because of my commitments and of course health issues got in the way too.

  3. Cristina says:

I enjoyed reading your post. Thank you Anne for bringing this beautiful truth about God’s Wisdom to our remembrance.

“But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.” James 3:17.

Nothing like the world’s wisdom which is foolishness to God.!!!

“That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Col 2:2-3

To trust in Jesus and to yield to His Holy Spirit is to walk in Wisdom. The Bible says we Christians have “the mind of Christ”.

We must study the Bible and meditate on His Word, pray and seek His Wisdom daily for all areas of life.

    Blessings Anne 🍁

    • Thank you Cristina for visiting and sharing and yes we are to do what Jesus told us to do as Confirmed in Scripture……

Matthew 7:7-12 Ask and it shall be given you, Seek and ye shall find, Knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that Asketh receiveth and he that Seeketh findeth and to him that Knocketh it shall be opened.

It all comes from The Godhead, all the Treasures of Wisdom and Knowledge, we ask and receive and there is no need to keep asking if we believe we have received (James 1:5-6 ) we Trust Jesus our only Spiritual Teacher to lead us into all Truth and as you shared God’s Wisdom is not anything like the Worlds, it does not have to be topped up, it’s complete.

Good to hear also Cristina that you have put your Carnal flesh to death by The Spirit and are now Perfected in Love (1John 4:17-19) and Born Again of God’s seed (1John3:9) and with also having the Mind of Christ no longer Sin, you walk as Jesus did on this earth, which is The freedom we have in Him when we are Perfected in Love.

To be honest Cristina, I’m where Paul said he was not yet fully Perfected but I’m Aiming for it and will get there like he did and others and you too, God tells us not one of us whom He knows has His own will be lost.

      Christian Love Always – Anne.

  4. Why did Jesus command water baptism? What do the Scriptures tell us?

THE COMMAND: Matthew 28:16-19…….19″Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, (NKJV)

Jesus command the eleven disciples to baptize all nations in water. What was the purpose of water baptism?

    1. Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.(NKJV)

By believers being immersed in water they are clothed with Christ.

    2. Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved…(NKJV)

Believers who have been immersed in water will be saved.

    3. Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.(NKJV)

Repentant believers who have been immersed in water will have their sins forgiven and they will receive the indwelling gift of the Holy Spirit.

    4. Romans 6:3-7 …4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life…….6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin…..(NKJV)

Believers in Jesus who have been immersed in water can walk in a new life, they no longer have to be slaves to sin.

    5. Acts 22:16 ‘And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’ (NKJV)

Believers who have been immersed in water have had their sins washed away.

    6. Acts 2:40,41,47 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 47 …..And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.(NKJV)

Repentant believers who have been immersed in water become saved from the penalty of sin and the Lord adds them to His church. The church is the body of Christ.

    7. Colossians 2:11-13…12 buried with Him in baptism… 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made you alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,(NKJV)

Believer who have been immersed in water have been forgiven all their sins.

WHAT DO CERTAIN BELIEVERS IN DENOMINATIONS TEACH US ABOUT WATER BAPTISM?

    1. Water baptism is not essential for salvation. (Not found in the Bible)

    2. Water baptism is not for the forgiveness of sins. (Not found in the Bible)

    3. Water baptism is simply for a testimony of faith. (Not found in the Bible)

    4. Water baptism is in order to be baptized into a denominational church or in order to join the church of your choice. (Not found in the Bible)

    5. Water baptism means being sprinkled, or poured with water. (Not found in the Bible)

    6. Water baptism in not being baptized into Christ.(Not found in the Bible.)

    7. Water baptism is in order to wash away the guilt of original inherited sin from Adam.(Not found in the Bible)

    8. Water baptism is unnecessary, period.(Not found in the Bible)

    9. The one baptism mentioned in Ephesians 4:5 in not water baptism. (Not found in the Bible)

    10. Unbelievers such as infants, and small children should be baptized against their will.(Not found in the Bible)

    11. Teaching about being baptized in water should be based on denominational creed books because the Bible is not God’s final authority.(Not found in the Bible.)

WHAT DO YOU TRUST? DO YOU TRUST THE BIBLE? DO YOU TRUST DENOMINATIONAL CREED BOOKS?

    • What does Water Baptism have to do with Wisdom Steve except it is a wise thing to do but it does not save us, it identifies us with God, (Matthew 28:16-19) it shows we have Repented and Repentance shows we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. When Jesus was Baptized it was not for the forgiveness of His Sins and to be Saved, He was Sinless, The Spotless Lamb of God and God in the Flesh, He was showing us His identity with His Father an example of what we are to do.

You have forgotten something that is very important Steve as confirmed below in the Scriptures. It would be of great value for you to ask for God’s Wisdom and Empowering so when you share on Blogs you share all the Truth not just parts of it and also it will guard against you sharing error.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is Born of the Spirit is Spirit.

Mark 1:8 8 I indeed have Baptized you with water but He shall Baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

      Blessings – Anne.

  5. Wisdom is God’s Truth in our Hearts and Minds, it does not come from a worldly person or book but from The Holy Spirit empowering us after we have asked and believed we have received.
