Special Friends Last Forever

Town 1Around The CornerAround the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end;

Yet days go by, and weeks rush on,
And before I know it a year is gone,
And I never see my old friend’s face,
For life is a swift and terrible race.

He knows I like him just as well
As in the days when I rang his bell
And he rang mine.
We were younger then,

And now we are busy, tired men,
Tired with playing a foolish game,
Tired with trying to make a name.

“Tomorrow” I say; “I will call on Jim,
Just to show I am thinking of him.”

But tomorrow comes  and tomorrow goes,
And the distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner!  yet miles away …

“Here’s the Telegram Sir. . .
“Jim died today’.”

And that’s what we get and deserve in the end,
Around the corner a vanished friend.

.

How sad if this were all True or perhaps it maybe for some.

We do need to take the time to stay in contact with our friends, encouraging, supporting and uplifting them.

“We Remember Our Closest Friends were Once Strangers before they walked into our Heart.”

How wonderful when our friendship is bonded together by God’s Love because even if we are separated by time and space our Love for them does not die and they do not vanish nor does death shut them out, we are together in the Spirit the same as we are with God and so our hearts are united for Eternity.

Love Hearts 021Let’s remember to say I Love you from the heart and then we will stay in contact not because we have to or because of fear or for material rewards…
but because we want to and we remember also…

.

Special Friends.

This is beautiful! I’m reading it and listening to the music on our 15th Tragic Anniversary of 9/11 here in USA. Tears flowing….I lost two colleagues in it, two heroes who attempted to save others.

  3. My life would not be complete without my friends. They are scattered across the globe and it doesn’t matter. I wish we could spend more time together and when we do, it’s as though not a day has passed since the last time we met.

        • I have visited your Blog a few times now Cliff and I hope you don’t mind my asking you why you believe God deliberately hurts us when the Scriptures tell us He doesn’t ? was this what you were taught or is it what you have come to personally believe and if so why?

Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the Children of Men.

          • That is a good question. But one that would be difficult to answer without knowing specifically what suggests to you in my writing that God deliberately “hurts” us.
Let me say I do not believe God intends us to be hurt or that He designs ways deliberately or otherwise to bring pain into our lives.
Psalm 119:68 speaks of the character of God, “He is good”, and His intentions, “what He does is good”.
So we know by that who He is not having an attribute of good, but is pure good, and intends good.
Our trouble, pain, hurt comes from two fronts I believe
            1. When we bring pain on ourselves by stepping outside His will and therefore His protection. There are always consequences to our actions.
            2. We live in a fallen world, inhabited by fallen beings and bad things happen to even the righteous.
Jesus alluded to this when speaking about those killed by the tower of Silome, and those sacrificed by Herod.
            Luke 13:1-5
James 1:2-5 is clear about not only the likelihood of tests and hardship but also how we should confront them J.B. Phillips goes as far as to say “embrace them as friends” But also what their purpose is.
This is not a popular view for some whose primary aim is health, wealth and happiness, but it says what it says.
I do not believe that our primary goal is to be happy in this life, or comfortable. God certainly provides those things as we follow Him, but care must be taken to not be focused on or consumed by the cares and comfort of this world.
Jesus had a lot to say on this subject.
Let me finish by saying that my endeavor or goal in writing is not to answer every theological question. I am not qualified first of all, I will leave that to those wiser than me.
My journey and it is a journey, I have not arrived, as it takes me onward, also is a journey in understanding. What I understand now may be different as the Holy Spirit reveals more. ….
As He continually works in me Philippians 1:6.
I try to write as much as I understand from a scriptural basis, I am careful in those things to not lean to my own understanding, but am sure I get it wrong from time to tim e.
Thanks for taking the time to ask your question I hope this helps.

            • You said Cliff on your Post “How to Carve a Duck”…… Sometimes the process is wonderful; sometimes it is painful………… are you saying that God willingly afflicts us, that He uses what is evil for good, like suffering and heartache to mould and shape us or have I misunderstood ? if not would you Trust someone Cliff who you know is going to deliberately hurt you ?.

I would like to ask you a few more Questions Cliff, I hope that is OK… Are you putting your Carnal flesh to death by The Spirit and Aiming to be Perfected in Love ? and have you asked and received God’s Wisdom and Empowering by The Spirit which none of us were Born with?

Thanking you for your time Cliff – Blessings – Anne.

              • All things work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
The pain we experience (and that process which the refers to in the post you reference as painful) is putting to death the flesh, the old nature which is opposed to the Spirit.
                Romans 8:28
                Romans 8:5-13
                Colossians 3:5
Discipline can be painful. We know this from childhood, when our will and our parents will for us knowing what was best would collide.
In the same way the Lord disciplines those He loves and corrects each one He takes as His own.
                Hebrews 12:6
So yes while it is God’s will that all be saved, it is also His will that we be conformed into the image of His Son.
In answer to your other questions-
It is my aim daily to pick up my cross and follow Him.
Believing that He is able to work in me to do His good will..
That I and all who follow Him are His workmanship, created in Him the Anointed One Christ Jesus to accomplish the good works God arranged long ago.
                Ephesians 2:10
I believe that daily I am being transformed into His image that the promise of Colossians 1:9-14 might be true in my life.
Since the day we got this good news about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We ask:This is a prayer for knowledge and insight that only can come from God.Father, may they clearly know Your will and achieve the height and depth of spiritual wisdom and understanding.  May their lives be a credit to You, Lord; and what’s more, may they continue to delight You by doing every good work and growing in the true knowledge that comes from being close to You.  Strengthen them with Your infinite power, according to Your glorious might, so that they will have everything they need to hold on and endure hardship patiently and joyfully.  Thank You, Father, as You have made us eligible to receive our portion of the inheritance given to all those set apart by the light.  You have rescued us from dark powers and brought us safely into the kingdom of Your Son, whom You love  and in whom we are redeemed and forgiven of our sins [through His blood]. – Colossians 1:9-14 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians1:9-
