We Remember Our Soldiers

1 ANZAC-DAY

Today 25-4-2016 is Anzac Day in Australia and we remember the Sacrifice our Soldiers made for our freedom but I would also like to remember the Sacrifice all our Soldiers have made or are making regardless of their Nationality and to also give Thanks as we remember what they go without  that we freely enjoy.

A SOLDIER’S LIFE

We may have to stay up for 16 hours if needed but can still rest, “give thanks”…

2SHe stays up for days on end without complaining.

We can take a warm shower to help us wake up and feel clean “give thanks”…

11SHe goes days or weeks without running water.

We can complain of a ‘headache’, call in sick and take time off “give thanks”…

3SHe gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

We can contact others on our phone or cell phone if needed and pray together in quietness “give thanks”

4SHe holds the Bible close and often prays alone with Battle noise in the background.

We can look forward to seeing our buddies again even if they aren’t with us at the moment “give thanks “…

5SHe knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

We can walk down a beach or in a forest, enjoying the beauty all around us or just walk down the street and greet our friends “give thanks”…

6SHe patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

We may complain about how hot it is but we can cool down “give thanks”…

7SHe wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

We go out to lunch and complain if the restaurant gets our order wrong and then have it corrected “give thanks”…

8SHe doesn’t get to eat today or maybe tomorrow too.

If we have a maid she makes our bed and washes our clothes but even if we do them we can because there is water and electricity “give thanks”…

9SHe wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

We can go to the mall and get our hair cut or redone “give thanks”…

10SHe doesn’t have time to brush his teeth today.

We may be angry because our class ran over 10 minutes late but our time is our own “give thanks”

12SHe’s told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

We have a modern Bathroom with all the amenities to use daily.

18SHe has limited time to shower and shave and very few resources to do so.

We are able to call our Loved ones and arrange to meet them “give thanks”…

13SHe waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

We can hug and kiss out Loved ones. everyday if we want to “give thanks”…

14SHe holds his letter close and smells his wife’s perfume.

We may roll our eyes as a baby cries but we can give comfort “give thanks”…

15SHe gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they’ll ever meet.

We can criticize our Government, and say things like war never solves anything even without understanding all the facts, because we have freedom of speech “give thanks”…

16SHe sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

We hear jokes about the war, making fun of men like him instead of giving thanks for him…

17SHe hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

We see only what the media wants us to see we are protected from a lot of horror “give thanks”…

19SHe sees the broken bodies lying around him.

If we are asked to do anything that we don’t want to do or that could put us in danger, we have the freedom to say no “give thanks”…

22SHe does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

We can stay at home and share with our families watch TV work on the Computer or whatever we enjoy “give thanks”…

21SHe takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

We are able to crawl into our soft bed with pillows, blankets and get comfortable “give thanks”…

20SHe tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.

23SAfter reading this message that was sent out as an e-mail, let’s say a Heartfelt Prayer giving Thanks as we remember all the sacrifices Soldiers make even just with the little things of everyday life. It may be their Job and regardless of what their Nationality, it is for us that our Soldiers are going without, we need their willingness to be there regardless of the cost.

We may not agree with War but without it people will die through injustice and without Mercy, yet we need to pray for our enemies too. Matthew 5: 44- 48

I have not been around much trying to get to everything and sort out a life that has been on hold for so long. My health has not been good either. Great work my Anzac day post was very simple. Never had the energy for much thought. Well done

    • Yes you have been through a lot Bj and yet as can be seen by your honest sharing on Post messages, you kept your focus on The Lord, well done.

In regard to this Post Bj, I have shared this message before when I first started Blogging, it really touched me when I received it from a friend who hated war but Loved the Soldiers who sacrificed for us even giving up their lives so we would not be oppressed and victimized.

Soldiers are willing to die for their country. That is bravery and patriotism that will always awe me. Annie, thank you for honoring soldiers everywhere!

It also reminds me of Jesus’ sacrificial death and the truth of Romans 5:7-8. “Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Sorry it has taken so long to reply but my Computer keeps crashing, it’s very old and I have also been in Hospital again with a bowel infection but I’m well again now.

Not sure if you will receive this reply Caleb or I will receive yours when I comment on your Posts, WordPress still have not fixed their error on my Blog, so I’m not getting these type of notifications even though I have contacted them more than once about them.

      • Dear Anne,

I hope that you are feeling better by the time you get this and that your computer issues are fix. Have you tried Mac? There are a bit more expensive than PC but are far more reliable and last longer.

I haven’t been able to blog a lot lately. I only log in once in a while to keep up or just post a quote by someone far smarter than I am (a simple copy and paste).

I will be keeping you in my prayers.

        God bless you!

    • Thank you Jan for your support and encouragement with the Reblog, like you when I received this message it touched my heart greatly, even though I’m sure their sacrifice is even greater than mentioned here but it does help us realize some of what our Soldiers endure for us.
