Life’s Olympic Games…..

Today I would like to share a Power point I created to Thank Ron, who is my Top Commenter and has been for years, this is not surprising with him being my husband but he also has a genuine interest in what I do. Thank you for joining me in my appreciation for his support and encouragement, a great idea to do so, shared by WordPress in our yearly reviews.

I will continue to create Power points for all those who were listed on our review, I have really enjoyed the few I have done for them and hope they were blessed too. It is my way of saying thank you for the Christian Love and support they have given us but I’m hoping to do this with other Bloggers even if they are not on our yearly review because I also appreciate their kindness and  faithfulness in taking an interest in what others are doing as God tells us to do and I see this often when I visit other Blogs too.

I Love and value Ron greatly and tell him so often but to be honest I don’t watch Footy or Cricket with the same interest he does but nor does Ron get very excited about Craft or Scrap Booking and Flower Arranging either, although he does with things that really matter, we both Love The Lord, this is were our Unity is, so regardless of what is happening in our lives good and bad we are still bonded together by Him.

Knowing Ron really enjoys the Olympics, I decided to create a Power point for him featuring Aussie’s participating in some of the events, I enjoyed doing this even though I’m not a great follower of Sport but I was surprised to read when preparing what was needed to create the Power point that some claim that the Olympics are about Pagan worship and must not be accepted by Christians but in checking the Internet once again I found contradictions and those who just copy and pass on what others propagate in error, even from well known and trusted Websites, the same as they do when claiming that celebrating Christmas and Easter are Pagan and they do this without Scriptural confirmation and sadly others believe them and are also deceived.

Their claims in regard to the Olympics we enjoy World wide today as being evil are on the supposition that they are a modern day revival and continuation of the ancient games which are believed to have started in A.D.393 although some say later, and they were in honor of Zeus but there is no foundation for this today even though some who participate including those on the committees are Pagans, so we see the Pagan influence such as woman who are suppose to be representing goddesses, lighting the flame and some gold Medals with Zeus and goddesses on them too, but these were added later and no doubt by Pagans, medals were not given in ancient times.

But let’s keep things in balance, just because Pagans are evolved in the Olympics games does not make them  Pagan, Christians are very much part of them too and Events, Names, Symbols and Artifacts from ancient times are not always evil or do they mean they are about Pagan worship today, some are also mentioned in the Scriptures as being good, such as the olive branch symbolizing Peace but yes like other things they are used by Pagans, although the peace they offer like all worldly things, is very different from God’s Peace, His has stability.

Today being an Olympian is a general Sporting term, meaning a Competitor in the Olympic Games not a follower of Zeus.

The negative claims about the Olympic Games we watch today are really in reference to those which were abolished for many years before our Olympics started in 1896. The original Olympic Games were very limited and never participated in World wide, they were localized which today they are not and so they have brought Unity  and for Christians an opportunity to witness.

I’m not watering down the dangers of Paganism which is now being propagated world wide, it’s  Spiritual Adultery which will give Satan a foothold in your life. Even if some claim their not worshiping another god they are worshiping themselves through the  practices of Paganism such as  chanting and meditation etc

What was included in the Olympic games  centuries ago, is only a small part of what is in them today,  unless I have missed something and they still have naked Participants, Gladiators fighting to their death and Christians being eaten alive by lions, which was started by the Romans and followed by others and was the reason why they were abolished as well as the Idolatrous Pagan Worship.

Some also make the claim that our Olympics are bad because they say there is dishonesty cheating,  aggrandizement and winning at any cost in them, regardless of how it hurts others and we know the Media like to promote what gets lots of attention like these issues but dishonesty etc can be said of most anything competitive, including those in business but there are also those who have integrity and play fair, who consider the other Participants too and value them as people of worth.

Others  who object to the Olympics today may be amazed to realize that not everybody are Christians and even some who claim to be are not either in what they say and do but they also overlook that many solid friendships have been made through the Olympics over the years and tolerance of other peoples cultures has benefited too but this is not saying we have to be in agreement with all they do and say, we are to reject what is against God’s guidelines and share His Truth. The Olympic Anthem  can also be viewed as to the listeners own preferences, but it’s how we view it that is important.

Of course as Christians, if Sport becomes our god, than it is wrong but this is the same with anything including Craft and yes Blogging too when it is just about us and not taking an interest in what others are doing, or not seeking to encourage and support them in this, especially when it is for God.

Yes there needs to be balance in whatever we do, God’s balance not mans and His Love must motivate all we do, His Love is not Saccharine sweet, selfish or egotistical, we put Him and others first and we confidently stand up for His Truth, yes if needed we also correct error in Love and for Love.

Does God refer to Sport in the Scriptures, if you watch Ron’s Power point it may surprise you but also encourage you as it did me to aim to excel in whatever I do for Him and also in honoring Him in all my words and actions, yes we were Created to be competitive in what is good and I’m still aiming to be perfected in Love and praying others may see the need to do so too, with it being confirmed in the Scriptures by God Himself.

1 John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2Timithy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
