Life’s Olympic Games…..

Olympic Torch 2

Today I would like to share a Power point I created to Thank Ron, who is my Top Commenter and has been for years, this is not surprising with him being my husband but he also has a genuine interest in what I do. Thank you for joining me in my appreciation for his support and encouragement, a great idea to do so, shared by WordPress in our yearly reviews.

I will continue to create Power points for all those who were listed on our review, I have really enjoyed the few I have done for them and hope they were blessed too. It is my way of saying thank you for the Christian Love and support they have given us but I’m hoping to do this with other Bloggers even if they are not on our yearly review because I also appreciate their kindness and  faithfulness in taking an interest in what others are doing as God tells us to do and I see this often when I visit other Blogs too.

I Love and value Ron greatly and tell him so often but to be honest I don’t watch Footy or Cricket with the same interest he does but nor does Ron get very excited about Craft or Scrap Booking and Flower Arranging either, although he does with things that really matter, we both Love The Lord, this is were our Unity is, so regardless of what is happening in our lives good and bad we are still bonded together by Him.

Olympic SKnowing Ron really enjoys the Olympics, I decided to create a Power point for him featuring Aussie’s participating in some of the events, I enjoyed doing this even though I’m not a great follower of Sport but I was surprised to read when preparing what was needed to create the Power point that some claim that the Olympics are about Pagan worship and must not be accepted by Christians but in checking the Internet once again I found contradictions and those who just copy and pass on what others propagate in error, even from well known and trusted Websites, the same as they do when claiming that celebrating Christmas and Easter are Pagan and they do this without Scriptural confirmation and sadly others believe them and are also deceived.

Their claims in regard to the Olympics we enjoy World wide today as being evil are on the supposition that they are a modern day revival and continuation of the ancient games which are believed to have started in A.D.393 although some say later, and they were in honor of Zeus but there is no foundation for this today even though some who participate including those on the committees are Pagans, so we see the Pagan influence such as woman who are suppose to be representing goddesses, lighting the flame and some gold Medals with Zeus and goddesses on them too, but these were added later and no doubt by Pagans, medals were not given in ancient times.

Olympics Torch 2But let’s keep things in balance, just because Pagans are evolved in the Olympics games does not make them  Pagan, Christians are very much part of them too and Events, Names, Symbols and Artifacts from ancient times are not always evil or do they mean they are about Pagan worship today, some are also mentioned in the Scriptures as being good, such as the olive branch symbolizing Peace but yes like other things they are used by Pagans, although the peace they offer like all worldly things, is very different from God’s Peace, His has stability.

Dove and olive branchToday being an Olympian is a general Sporting term, meaning a Competitor in the Olympic Games not a follower of Zeus.

The negative claims about the Olympic Games we watch today are really in reference to those which were abolished for many years before our Olympics started in 1896. The original Olympic Games were very limited and never participated in World wide, they were localized which today they are not and so they have brought Unity  and for Christians an opportunity to witness.

I’m not watering down the dangers of Paganism which is now being propagated world wide, it’s  Spiritual Adultery which will give Satan a foothold in your life. Even if some claim their not worshiping another god they are worshiping themselves through the  practices of Paganism such as  chanting and meditation etc

What was included in the Olympic games  centuries ago, is only a small part of what is in them today,  unless I have missed something and they still have naked Participants, Gladiators fighting to their death and Christians being eaten alive by lions, which was started by the Romans and followed by others and was the reason why they were abolished as well as the Idolatrous Pagan Worship.

Some also make the claim that our Olympics are bad because they say there is dishonesty cheating,  aggrandizement and winning at any cost in them, regardless of how it hurts others and we know the Media like to promote what gets lots of attention like these issues but dishonesty etc can be said of most anything competitive, including those in business but there are also those who have integrity and play fair, who consider the other Participants too and value them as people of worth.

Others  who object to the Olympics today may be amazed to realize that not everybody are Christians and even some who claim to be are not either in what they say and do but they also overlook that many solid friendships have been made through the Olympics over the years and tolerance of other peoples cultures has benefited too but this is not saying we have to be in agreement with all they do and say, we are to reject what is against God’s guidelines and share His Truth. The Olympic Anthem  can also be viewed as to the listeners own preferences, but it’s how we view it that is important.

Of course as Christians, if Sport becomes our god, than it is wrong but this is the same with anything including Craft and yes Blogging too when it is just about us and not taking an interest in what others are doing, or not seeking to encourage and support them in this, especially when it is for God.

scalesYes there needs to be balance in whatever we do, God’s balance not mans and His Love must motivate all we do, His Love is not Saccharine sweet, selfish or egotistical, we put Him and others first and we confidently stand up for His Truth, yes if needed we also correct error in Love and for Love.

bible clearDoes God refer to Sport in the Scriptures, if you watch Ron’s Power point it may surprise you but also encourage you as it did me to aim to excel in whatever I do for Him and also in honoring Him in all my words and actions, yes we were Created to be competitive in what is good and I’m still aiming to be perfected in Love and praying others may see the need to do so too, with it being confirmed in the Scriptures by God Himself.

1 John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2Timithy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Great work and post you are amazing at power points the art of a computer….Created by man but with Gods wisdom

    • Very True Barb, but once again man can use it for evil and some do.

Thanks again for your encouragement, I’m blessed when creating Power points as I learn as I do them, I thank God for His gift of creativity, we are indeed all made in His likeness although we may mess up but He doesn’t.

Don’t forget to slow down Barb and rest, have breaks from Blogging until your well again… OK I’m nagging but you need it! Lol

  2. Great post and well research. Good, healthy and balance competition reflects God’s love and humility. Humility in the sense that we recognized our talents and glorify God by using them to share a light to the world and also in recognizing the talents that God has given to others.

I still think that Sydney opening ceremony was one of the best ever!

    • Yes I agree with you Caleb and so does Ron, as he said; …… We can thank God, that as Christian Athletes, many at the point of victory give thanks to Him,

The is a great witness to others, instead of seeking the glory for themselves they are giving it to God and yes as you shared Caleb, this is True humility.

I also agree Caleb that our opening was very eye catching, it also cost a lot of money much more than most and like some others was based on Paganism, that does not make the Olympic games Pagan, just those who engineered them in Australia or they were seeking to promote it for those who were.

A woman Lighting the flame is suppose to be symbolic of a Goddess doing so, can we view it another way, No, unlike the Olympic Anthem it confirms it’s source.

      • I know that the cost of Olympics make the whole endeavor questionable for the hosting city!

There can be pagan signs but that does not mean that we celebrate them because they are pagan rather we look at them and take what is intrinsically good about them and discard what is not…for example have you ever thought about wedding rings? These are pagan symbols that we have adopted to signify something that is sacramental. That is the union of a man and a woman in marriage!

I really like and appreciate the time it takes to do the research and gather your thoughts in such a post. Keep ’em comming!

        • I’m lead by the Lord in what I write Caleb as I can’t write fluently with being Dyslectic, He also shows me what to accept and what to discard when viewing the Internet, so I’m not deceived and He always confirms His Truth with Scripture.

Some say Worshiping on Sunday is Pagan but we see in Scripture it is not, sadly many associate as I shared in my Post, things that Pagans do as being an indication of what we shouldn’t do, like Celebrating Christmas, which is confirmed in Scripture as Jesus time of Birth. Just because Pagans use candles to worship their gods, does that mean it is wrong for us to use candles.

Rings were used by God in making The Ark of the Covenant, they are Symbolic of The Marriage of the Lamb and also used by Kings as their signature which we see confirmed in Scripture too, they confirm Authoriy, they were mentioned in Song of Solomon, which is not about Solomon and his wives but has great Spiritual Truth about Christ and The Church.

Wedding rings are symbolic of Oneness, in Christian Marriages, they show Unity in the Lord. Marriage is a Union that God ordained and it is not to be broken, just as gold rings can’t be broken unless intentionally severed. A diamond like God’s Love has many facets but together make a whole and a gem of beauty. I Love the Symbolism that is in God’s creation but we need Spiritual eyes to see them, yes Pagans may pollute what is sacred but it’s what is in our heart that matters.

A Husband is in Authority under God, he is to have Sacrificial Love for His wife putting her first as Christ does The Church. A wife is her Husbands Helpmate but not just in having babies and washing up, but Physically, Mentally, Emotionally and to also encourage and support Spiritually.

Woman are not to be Ordained in the Church, as they will than be in Authority over men and so can be deceived, God warns about this in Scripture.

          • Sorry Caleb, I meant to add that we see in Scripture in the Parable of the Prodigal Son that has great Spiritual significance too for us, that rings show the Family bond, as confirmed below.

Luke 15 :22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet.

  3. Patty B says:

What can I say good power point, good message and good comments. 🙂

    • And what can I say Patty except thank you, your very encouraging, it took me a long time to put this message together as well as the Power point, I had to go into the background of the Olympics and also examine them today and as I was doing this God lead me to discover some other Pagan and Cult beliefs, which left me saddened at their Spiritual blindness and the same with Childish Christians who have been given me a hard time, I thank God for you and my other Blogging friends.

I hope your feeling better Patty, a cold is the pits! it’s good to see you commenting again that’s always a good sign, I would love to talk to you again, I need your advice, please let me know when you will be home again.

  4. Ron says:

Thanks for the powerpoint Anne, it shows that all that sacrifice and training for all those years , the hardship and self denial, can like we see have its rewards, like best in your field,in the world. Most of the time the Olympics brings out the finest attributes of competition . We can thank God, that as a christian athlete many at the point of victory give thanks to Him. Love the graphics!

    • Hi Love, I’m pleased you liked the PowerPoint and Thanks for the Hug too and yes as you shared, we can indeed Thank God that when Christian Athletes are victorious they give thanks to Him because that is a great witness to the Pagans and Atheists, they may mock but it shows how Awesome our God is instead of seeking the glory for themselves they are giving it to Him.

  5. dwwork says:

Anne, great message and a fantastic PowerPoint. As Christians we need to be out in the world showing others what life is with Christ and in doing so we might lead them to Christ. have a blessed day, David

    • Thank you David for your kind words of encouragement , to be honest I made a mistake with the first PowerPoint and had to redo it, so I thought I would add more graphics this time, Ron saw the new one and said it had a good message too.

We are God’s creation, how good, when our gifts are used to bring glory to Him so others can share them, like Christians do with the Olympic and as you wisely said David, it’s a wonderful opportunity to witness.

      Christian Love Always – Anne

  6. Like you said so well, there are many things and events in life, that can be done either for good or for selfish or immoral reasons… the same thing but different intent is the difference… Diane

    • Very True Diane, I’m pleased you got that message because is was what I was seeking to share. It is the same with those who reject Christmas and Easter, they have no understanding that just because Pagans mess them up, it does not mean we have to reject them, they are both confirmed in Scripture as we celebrate them today and so are some of the symbol’s we associate them with but as shown in my Christmas Symbol Post, it is how we view them and what we do with them that is important, I have never worshiped a Christmas Tree but have thanked God for them and enjoyed their beauty.

Thank you for visiting Diane, you always bless me with the wisdom you share.
