Summer Camp Blues…..

Summer Camps 1

So pleased we could get Mary into Summer Camp it will be good Training for her.

Yes she needs to mature and have her own independence.

Of course she will hurt when the older girls push her around a bit but that will teach her long-suffering and about the need to forgive and no doubt if she suffers physically when the Camp leaders encourage them to participate in some strenuous games it will show her the need to persevere.

Of course your right dear but we still need to instruct her about remaining cheerful no matter what happens to her, it is not good to show our emotions, others may think we are weak and need help.

You did tell her not to contact us didn’t you if she does feel hurt or rejected and to just grin and bear it alone, after all we don’t need her Camp problems to worry about.

I’m so glad we chose Hurt and Learn Summer Training Camp for Mary, it’s so good to know she will suffer affliction, it will make her tough!

Camp 3

Great Summer Camp, I don’t think, but unbelievably some claim that this is how God molds and shapes us, that He willingly afflicts us or as they propagate, He allows us to suffer to teach us but this is not confirmed in Scripture as we see below, yes He knows we will suffer in this life but He does not delight in this Truth and it is not by His hand, He tells us that He does not afflict us willingly and His plans for us are good.He moulds and shapes by the Fruit of The Spirit and as we choose to do His will we are empowered to do it putting our evil flesh to death.

This analogy shows how wrong it is to think He does hurt us, would we do something deliberately to harm our children or willingly allow it so they will suffer, we bring it on ourselves, Satan or others do and we live in a fallen world, and accidents happen, all of which God helps us endure as shown in the Scriptures below. Atheists claim even though they say there is no God that He deliberately hurts us and sadly so do some Christians although they sugarcoat it by saying it’s for our good. It is a lie of Satan, he wants us not to have confidence when we pray believing instead that it is God’s will we suffer.

We cannot put our Trust in someone who we believe will deliberately hurt us and even if we think we can,  when we are faced with hardship we will blame God in our heart and loose our Peace and assurance of His Love..

Lamentations 3: 33 For God doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour.”

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Psalm 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made Heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

JobAlthough Job did warn his wife not to curse God and accept what ever happened to them he later was reassured by God that all He made was very good and He was not the Author of evil, and yes we know today that it was Satan not God who put Job to the test, which is his right to do so because of the fall, we are all under his control until tested. When we are made rich in The Fruit of the Spirit he cannot hurt us.

1Peter 1:6-7 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

James 1:12-14 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Proverbs 10:20-22 The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom. The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, AND HE ADDETH NO SORROW WITH IT.

What many do not understand today is what God’s discipline and chastising is, often they think it is like they received as Children and in some ways it is like this, as it is not pleasant, so is there a contradiction in Scripture when God tells us that He does not afflict willingly or grieve the children of men… His Rod of correction is The Holy Spirit, He does not afflict us with evil, He can’t, He is Love, physical abuse promotes abuse and this is evil and this  comes by Satan’s hand, all good things come from God,. To even say that Christians use evil to bring good out of it as we can see below is Slander but God works out all our life happenings for our good which is very different from claiming that He causes hardship so we will suffer and learn.

Romans 3: 8 And not rather, as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say, Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

We see by the Prodigal Son that God allows us our own free will and so we reap what we sow, good and evil and when we separate ourselves from God by sin we are no longer under His care and protection, He sees us from afar, it’s a bit like time out when children are naughty, it’s not pleasant to be alone and in despair but it is our choice until we have heart repentance. Yet because God knew we would be His even before we were conceived, He will intervene if needed and when we do repent, Wow what a welcome Home!

Before I knew Jesus as my Lord and Saviour, I was saved from death at least 3 times  that I know of but who knows for sure how often God intervenes and saves our lives. At those times He did so even though  I claimed He was just made up and we came from Apes after being deceived as a Teenager but yes He saved and healed me again later when I had repented.

When we come to our senses and repent, putting our flesh to death and being perfected in Love, He welcomes us back Lovingly and so although we were dead in our sins we become alive Spiritually in Christ Jesus and are sealed, we are Adopted and in His Family, a Holy Nation a people belonging to God, we are Born again and have His seed not Adams the old Nature has gone the new has come.

1 John 3:9 No one who is Born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been Born of God.

1 John 5:18-20 We know that no one who is Born of God sins; but He who was Born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.

    • Yes Caleb but just as well all Summer Camps are not like this one, it would have been the pits if it was True but the analogy was to show that God does not do evil and regardless of how many deceived people think He does, He can’t because He is Love and Love can’t do evil only good as we see in these Scriptures (1Corinthians 13 & Galatians 5 KJV)

God’s revenge will be against all evil and this is good because for evil to continue indefinitely would mean much suffering and heartache and this would be tragic but God is patient giving His people time to come to their senses, it’s not His will anyone perishes.

      • Very well said! That is very true. God cannot do evil, unfortunately many people do not differentiate between allowing the consequences of having a free will (sin) and the act evil itself.

        • Very True Caleb and I agree many don’t know the difference nor do they realize we all suffer from Satan’s Testing and we are hurt too by those who are motivated by him. But accidents happen too and God is not saying I will hurt Caleb or Anne so they will suffer and do what I want, He does not want Puppets but instead for us to willingly choose to Love and obey Him and both go together but yes He can use what ever happens to us for good.

His discipline and chastising are also very different from what some believe, we see this with the Prodigal son and when Jesus was on earth.

Thanks Caleb, I enjoy reasoning and sharing with you.

Thanks Anne, your analogy of parent and child as before is good, most parents would not want to deliberately harm their children and nor does God our Father who loves us. Circumstances, we do or Satan does, wrong choices, and accidents too all cause us pain not Him.

    • Thanks for your Phone comment Love, hopefully your Internet will be working again today. So very True what you shared and as we have often said; God is Love and can do no evil and to deliberately cause us to suffer is evil and yes comes from Satan, ourselves and others or life happenings, not God.

I was reminded about the Christian Camps we use to do the catering for, they were always a blessing for us and for those who came, I remember that our friend Stan became a Christian at one of them after listening to the Speaker and you than Baptized him and I’m sure many others have had good seeds planted at Camps over the years, both as Children and Adults.

  4. My parents made me go to summer camp and I resented it because could not play with neighborhood kids. But now I appreciate it so much for the enriching activities. Naturally I liked arts and crafts the best.

    • Hi Carl, thank you for visiting and commenting, hopefully your Summer Camp was not like this one but of course this analogy was really about those who claim God deliberately harms us as these Parents planed to do by sending their daughter to a Summer Camp that would cause her to suffer.

Both Ron and I use to cater for Christian Camps and often the Children would come and visit with us as we cooked, they would tell us all about the fun they were having and things they were learning at the Camp and sometimes about their own ups and downs in life, for us it was a wonderful way to share with them about Jesus and how much He Loved them.

The Scripture below reminds us that God’s planes for us are good not bad.

Jeremiah 29 :11-12 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of Peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a Hope.

Anne, great post. Our suffering is due to sin and Satan. As you write God does not cause our suffering. David

    • Thanks David, you show wisdom in your understanding of the goodness of our Loving Heavenly Father but those that propagate that He willingly hurts us as His Redeemed Children, causes me to feel anger and great sadness for them because it shows they do not know our Abba Father’s heart or understand what His discipline and chastising is.

But to be honest at one time nor did I and I remember sending out e-mails I received that said He causes us to suffer but we can’t Trust someone whom we think will deliberately hurt us even when it is sugar coated that it is for our good, yes God will work all things for good in our lives including evil but believing He deliberately hurts us is why Job needed reassuring by Him, he didn’t know it was Satan who was afflicting him not God as we do now.
