America Remembering…..

Dog tagsThe amazing Story below called A Special Mission although not Posted on  Monday the 26th of May for American Memorial Day, is not really  late, we need to remember and give thanks to all those Soldiers regardless of  where they lived who risked and also gave up their lives for us and we do this not just on one day a year but always in our heart.

We live in Countries free from Oppression and Dictatorship because of their sacrifice both of their time with their families and for some their lives too. God used war to save His people from being polluted, although we pray for our enemies, we also remember they do not  believe our welfare is important, they seek to oppress us, God does not allow injustice, He fights against it.

I also want to share besides A Special Mission, some links with you by two  Blogging friends, whose Messages were outstanding in remembrance of the Soldiers,  I’m sure you will shed a tear but also have heart felt thankfulness in remembrance of your brave Soldiers.

A Special Mission

A true story told by Chaplain Robinson about his father who in 1949, had just returned home from the war.  On every American highway you could see soldiers in uniform hitchhiking home to their families, as was the custom at that time in America.

Granny 2 Sadly, the thrill of his reunion with his family was soon overshadowed.  My Grandmother became very ill and had to be hospitalized.  It was her kidneys, and the Doctors told my father that she needed a blood transfusion immediately or she would not live through the night.

The problem was that Grandmother’s blood type was AB negative, a very rare type even today, but even harder to get then because there were no blood banks or air flights to ship blood.

Blood 01  All the family members were typed, but not one member was matched.  So the Doctors gave the family no hope, my Grandmother was dying.

Hospital 2 My father left the Hospital in tears to gather up all the family members, so that everyone would get a chance to tell Grandmother good-bye.

1940As my father was driving down the highway, he passed a soldier in uniform hitchhiking home to his family.  Deep in grief, my father had no inclination at that moment to do a good deed.

Yet it was almost as if something outside himself pulled him to a stop, and he waited as the stranger climbed into the car.

My father was too upset to even ask the Soldier his name, but the soldier noticed my father’s tears right away and inquired about them.

Through his tears, my father told this total stranger that his mother was lying in a hospital dying because the Doctors had been unable to locate her blood type, AB negative, and if they did not locate her blood type before nightfall… She would surely die.

It got very quiet in the car.  Then this unidentified soldier extended his hand out to my father, palm up.  Resting in the palm of his hand were the dog tags from around his neck.

The blood type on the tags was AB negative.

Tags 2The Soldier told my father to turn the car around and get him to the Hospital.

My Grandmother lived until 1996, 47 years later, and to this day no one in our family knows the Soldier’s name.

But my father has often wondered, was he a Soldier or an Angel in uniform? nothing is impossible for God!

Sometimes, we never know who He will bring into our lives to carry out a Special Mission, nor do we know whose lives God will have us touch with His Light, giving Hope and Joy.

Story by Chaplain Robinson about his Father.

What an amazing and positive story. While I am not of your faith, I do send warm thoughts out to that veteran who without hesitation gave of himself for your grandmother…

    • Thank you for visiting us Mustang.Koji and I’m pleased you were blessed by this True Story but I’m sorry like others who commented because of the wording you are mistaken it is not about my Grandmother but I have fixed it now so others won’t be confused too.

I was wondering Mustang.Koji what you believe and would be thankful if you shared but it’s OK if you don’t want to, it was kind of you to comment and it is appreciated.

The story is still wonderful, It’s folks helping folks. My family has been Buddhist for I don’t know how long, I hope that is OK. If not, my feelings will not be hurt if you remove my comments; I would surely understand. I simply have the utmost respect for those felled in combat and for the words above; they give us what we have today.

  4. Beautiful post, Anne! It’s so important to remember that not only does our military protect our freedom and lives abroad they also give of themselves in their own countries. I am thankful and proud of my grandfather (Army, WW1), my father (Korea), my husband (Vietnam) and the countless others who have kept our countries safe and free. What a blessing you are to me!

    • Hi Marrie you too are a Blessing to me, I Love Americans but also all Nationalities, I have had so much joy Blogging here, yes I have had problems too but they are small in comparison when I think of all the opportunity I have had to share my heartbeat with everyone, thank you especially for the Christian Love we have shared, I know I can be very direct but on a whole people have been kind and patient with me, appreciating my rather Loooooooooooooooog Comments and the Scripture I share to confirm them.

My Brother went to Vietnam, we use to look at the slides he brought back with him, sadly though he was never the same, it toughened him but also weakened him and so he started to drink, he could not handle seeing the horrors that he saw and I have known of others who came back the same or worse.

I have another Post about Soldiers to share who are trying to readjust back to civilian life, it opened my eyes to what they must feel, when I speak to a returned Solider now I’m mindful of just what they have and are experiencing, can we ever stop thanking them for the great sacrifices they made.

But I always remember who made the greatest sacrifice and the horror He experienced for us on the Cross, can we ever stop thanking Jesus or our Abba Father who let Him His beloved Son suffer even knowing He could set Him free all because of His great Love for us.

      Christian Love Always – Anne

    • Hi Carl, I do agree it seems very possible it was an Angel, but just how old do you think I am ? the woman who is telling this story about her father’s experience with the Soldier, would have to have been born in the twenties that means if it was me I would be at least 92, now I know plastic surgery works wonders but I don’t think to that degree.

You made my Day! see you tomorrow Carl – Blessings – Anne

    • Hi Carl, I have Dyslexia and my weakest points are Maths and spelling, I received this Story years ago but do not know who the Author is, after writing the previous reply to you, I thought about the timing and you could be right in that it may have been me, if I was retelling what my father had told me .

I was born on the 26/12/1951 Midnight, they say that means the moon is under my feet, it could be why I have problems with them Lol so yes I could be sharing about it now. Sorry for the mix -up, you must have thought I lost it.

      Blessings – Anne

      • Hi again Carl, the Author of this Story was Chaplain Robinson and it was about his Father, it was at the bottom but like you I missed it too but funny, it was not even his daughter who shared it. Lol!

I have received a lot of Stories over the years where the Author is unknown and sometimes the era is unknown when what they are writing about happened but I’m still blessed by them.

How do I know if they are genuine, well I don’t Trust Snopes with Christian Stories, they are biased but Truth or Fiction is OK for validation, they don’t depend on hearsay like the others do and if they don’t know, they don’t pretend they do.

        Blessings – Anne
