A man had a dream and in the dream he was having a conversation with the Lord and said…Lord, I would like to know what Heaven and Hell are like…
The Lord led the man to two doors.
He opened one of the doors and the man looked in. In the middle of the room was a large round table. In the middle of the table was a large pot of stew which smelled delicious and made the man’s mouth water. The people sitting around the table were thin and sickly. They appeared to be famished.
They were holding spoons with very long handles that were strapped to their arms and each found it possible to reach into the pot of stew and take a spoonful, but because the handle was longer than their arms, they could not get the spoons back into their mouths.
The man shuddered at the sight of their misery and suffering. The Lord said… “You have seen Hell.”
They went to the next room and opened the door. It was exactly the same as the first one. There was the large round table with the large pot of stew which made the man’s mouth water.
The people were equipped with the same long-handled spoons, but here thepeople were well nourished and plump, laughing and talking.
The confused man said, “I don’t understand.”It is simple” said the Lord, “It requires but one skill. You see, they have learned to feed each other, while the greedy think only of themselves.”
“What is our Pot of Stew that we keep for ourselves. Is it our Money and Possessions, our Gifts and Talents or our Time?” Of course it may be none of these but something else that we won’t let go of or share. Or perhaps we do give freely without counting the cost and that pleases the Lord and it is what He asks each of us to do from the Heart.
So we each have a choice to make… “Who do we put first after the Lord, others or ourselves? Jesus Christ made the right choice will we.
John 13: 34 – 35 A new commandment I give unto you, that you Love one another, as I have Loved you, so you must Love one another.” By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you Love one another.

It’s so good that you are Bee, Love always seeks to give, not selfishly take, some think it is all about them and so loose the wonderful inner Joy that they can have.
Thank you for being you Bee, a very special woman who God Loves greatly and has wonderful plans for which you can’t even imagine but will know as you seek Him with all your heart.

So many could learn from your story. Indeed the world is filled with people who are all into themselves. that it’s all about “Me” and not about “Us.” So much we can learn from God’s words of what true love and Christianity means. Today, we get to to reflect of what’s important in this lifetime. Thanks for helping us see my friend.

I would never think that about you Island Traveler, you are a very kind person, and not selfish, how do I know, well I have known from the first time I found your Blog, your focus on others was very evident.
But I have found some people have been very hurt and hurt people, hurt people but they also try to protect themselves by pushing others away and so they apear to be selfish , they need our compassion and Love not our rejection of them as people of worth and what they need most is to be healed by Jesus.

This was really good. I noticed in your other comments Ron said it was an old story, I had never heard it before. It was new to me and really made me stop and think. Thank you for sharing it!

Hi T, thanks for visiting, yes it is an old story, many of the ones I Post are, perhaps because I have been around a long time. I’m pleased you were blessed by it. We have some very gifted writers past and present , I can’t write much being Dislestic and yet when needed to I do, I know The Lord leads me as I learn too. I would like to write more stories but I don’t feel fiction is my focus anymore but I do enjoy them when they are based on a Christian foundation. There was a very gifted woman that I was blogging with in the begining, her name was Dursilla, her stories were wonderful , very creative.
I do enjoy your sharing from your heart T, you can feel your thoughts, have you also written stories?

It`s good to be reminded of our mission in life, to be available to help others. The old story Anne that you reminded us of is a real good example of just that .I like it that when we are about God’s business, others and ourselves are blessed.
Thanks

Hi Love, I knew you would like this one and after yesterday and all you did to help me, I feel blessed and it also blesses me when I know your helping others as I see your kindness, so regardless of your weaknesses and shortcomings, which perhaps are not as many as mine, I know your seeking to please God and that needs to be all our focus.

Hi Gayle , yes it is a good analogy, it’s also an old story but as yet I don’t know who the Author is, it’s one of Ron’s and my favourites and it’s Truth has spoken to us many times.
Of course there is no earthly food in Heaven but there is a Spritual banquet for us as we are seated before the Throne, listening to God’s Truth and sharing in it as we walk in it’s Fruit in our lives being empowered by The Holy Spirit to do so.
Thanks for visiting Gayle and God bless you greatly and those you Love and pray for.
