The Rat and Scorpion

 

The Scorpion and the Rat wanted to cross the river.The Scorpion said to the rat “Can I ride on your back?”Rat, “Of course not, you will Sting me and we will both drown”.

 

That would be really silly, wouldn’t it said the Scorpion. “I don’t want to drown, of course I wouldn’t. Why else would I be asking you to take me across?” “All right”, said the Rat rather grudgingly.

 

Halfway across the river the Scorpion stung the Rat, and as they were sinking down into the water, the rat said, “Why, why did you sting me? Now we will both die!” “Yes, I know”, said the Scorpion, “but I can’t Stop my old nature”.

 

 God is longing that we by The Holy Spirit’s empowering  as we choose to do good instead of evil we put  to death our old Natures so that we are Born again of His Spirit and walk in newness of Life which we can only do when the Old evil Nature has gone and God’s seed,  New Nature has come, 1 John 3:9 this is not works but obedience and  is because we Love God.

 

John 8:34-36 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.  And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

 

I John 3:1-11 No one who lives in Him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen Him or known Him. Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous.

 

Romans 7:5-6 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.  But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of Spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

 

Romans 8:12-13 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

 

Romans 8 :1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 

 

1 John 5:18-20  We know that no one who is Born of God sins; but He who was Born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.   We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

 

 John 8: 34-36 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

 

Romans 6:6-7 For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

 

Romans 6:22-23 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

 

1 John 4:17-19 Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in Love; but perfect Love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in Love. We Love Him, because He first Loved us.

 

Colossians 3:1-17 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

 

1 John 3:9 No one who is Born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been Born of God.

 

 

How powerful is God’s word to reveal Truth and error but without His wisdom  through the empowering of The Holy Spirit, as Jesus guides and teaches us,  we remain in darkness and they are just words, yes God can still convict and warn us and show direction but we will never understand His heart and good plans for us fully till we are like a Child, Trusting and dependent and as we ask we will receive .1Corinthians2:9-16
