A True Story of Butterfly Love and Courage
Walking down a path through some woods in Georgia in 1977, I saw a water puddle ahead on the path. I angled my direction to go around it on the part of the path that wasn’t covered by water and mud. As I reached the puddle, I was suddenly attacked!
Yet I did nothing, for the attack was so unpredictable and from a source so totally unexpected. I was startled but not hurt, despite having been struck four or five times already. I backed up a foot and my attacker stopped attacking me. Instead of attacking me more, he hovered in the air on graceful butterfly wings in front of me. Had I been hurt I wouldn’t have found it amusing, but I was unhurt — it was funny, and I was laughing.
Having stopped laughing, I took a step forward. My attacker rushed me again. He rammed me in the chest with his head and body, striking me over and over again with all his might, still to no avail. For a second time, I retreated a step while my attacker relented in his attack.
Yet again, I tried moving forward. My attacker charged me again. I was rammed in the chest over and over again. I wasn’t sure what to do, other than to retreat a third time. After all, it’s just not every day that one is attacked by a butterfly. This time, though, I stepped back several paces to look the situation over. My attacker moved back as well to land on the ground. Then I discovered why my attacker was charging me only moments earlier.
He had a mate, and she was dying. She was beside the puddle where he landed. Sitting close beside her, he opened and closed his wings as if to fan her. I could only admire the love and courage of that butterfly in his concern for his mate. He had taken it upon himself to attack me for his mate’s sake, even though she was clearly dying and I was so large. He did so just to give her those extra few precious moments of life, should I have been careless enough to step on her.
Now I knew why and what he was fighting for. There was really only one option left for me. I carefully made my way around the puddle to the other side of the path, though it was only inches wide and extremely muddy. His courage in attacking something thousands of time larger and heavier than himself just for his mate’s safety justified it. I couldn’t do anything other than reward him by walking on the more difficult side of the puddle. He had truly earned those moments to be with her, undisturbed. I left them in peace for those last few moments, cleaning the mud from my boots when I later reached my car.
Since then, I’ve always tried to remember the courage of that butterfly whenever I see huge obstacles facing me. I use that butterfly’s courage as an inspiration and to remind myself that good things are worth fighting for.
And Jesus says that you are worth fighting for… He proved that by dying for you.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Thank you my dear friend Viv and yes I thought so too it’s a beautiful True Story, when we remember that we too are protected it very much touches our heart but with us Jesus is always the Victor it is never a question of others letting Him be, even if they think they are in control.

What a beautiful and touching story. The butterfly was willing to die just to save a dying mate. Reminds me of the man after God’s heart, David; who would risk his precious life just to save some silly sheeps from a bear and lion.

Hi Johnson have you even wondered why God calls us sheep and Jesus The good Shepherd, well we are like the one that got lost and Jesus rescued so pleased He thought me silly enough to rescue me! but it is True what you say Johnson, David did indeed know God’s heart but sadly got lost in his fleshy desires but like all of God’s Children he came to His senses.

Anne, when I refer to love, I am talking about God’s love conquers all, not man. When we walk in His ways then it is then that we truly love Him. Have a awesome day in Christ!

Yes that is what I said Shenine, we walk as Jesus walked which was in Love and without sin Love can’t sin if it is pure. and the only way we can have this Love is if God empowers us, we can’t have it in the flesh and thankfully there is no fear when our Love is perfected..
1John 4:16-17 And we have known and believed the Love that God hath to us. God is Love; and he that dwelleth in Love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our Love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.

Hi Shenine, good that we sorted out Love, now we just have to continue to choose to walk in it but we will if we have the mind of Christ, He does not choose to sin so nor will we.
Thank you so much for your patience with my making the Butterfly Power point for you, they found 14 Viruses after the wash on my Computer, this includes Trogons. Wayne my Computer Technician is coming soon to finish the overhaul but this of course will not stop the Hacker but this problem is under investigation at the moment, so we are hoping it will soon be exposed and resolved. Thank you for caring.

Those trojans viruses, to include spyware can be troublesome viruses. Once they attach the whole system must be erased and redone. I really pray everything can get resolved once and for all.
However, you are pushing through the storm and not even the hackers can keep you down. So to God be the Glory for His word will move forward no matter what. God is able….
May God give you comfort during these troubling times. This to shall pass. Blessings Anne. I love you.
