We’ve Always Done It This Way

An oldie but a goodie with encouragement….

As a young girl watched her Mother prepare her ham for baking, she noticed her Mother cut off the ends of the ham before placing it in the pan.

When she asked, “Why?” the Mother could only say…

That’s the way your Grandmother always did it”.

So she went and asked her Grandmother, she answered…

That’s the way my Mother always did it”.

Visiting Great-grandmother, the girl asked her the same question, to which the old woman replied…

 All I had was a small pan…

“So I had to cut off the ends to make it fit”.

Sometimes the naïve question…

“Why do we do this?” may be the  catalyst for change in unnecessary  routines that have been carried out in the same way for years.

As we travel along in Life we can also pick up negative ideas or beliefs that can influence how we feel and think about things.

This can be very limiting and unproductive we may never be all we were meant to be, it may also lead to destructive behaviour that hurts others or ourselves…

So ask some Questions and don’t just accept things as true, seek answers they may surprise you.

Aw, thank you! I love it. That’s the story I was talking about, and it so illustrates how we can go along doing/believing things for all the wrong reasons. I like your follow up statements too. 😀 God bless, Angie

Routine often is done without much thought , helps us to not to have the problem of thinking too hard about why we do it, thanks Anne
