At times because of our own feelings of inadequacy or through others put downs or Satan’s lies, we will have doubts and fears and feel that we are not able to make a difference in this world but in Christ Jesus we will overcome and fulfil the good plans that God has for us and we can be assured that what ever He asks of us, He has prepared in advance and will equip and motivate us to do it and in Christ Jesus there is no failures. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Ephesians 2: 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
If we are going through a situation of doubting our gifts in The Lord, then perhaps this story will bless and encourage us never to quit what God has laid on our heart, even though we may never know the many lives that Jesus’ has touched through us.
I read of a man who was involved in a tragic accident. He lost both legs and his left arm and only a finger and thumb remained on the right hand. But he still possessed a brilliant mind, enriched with a good education and broadened with world travel. At first he thought there was nothing he could do but remain a helpless sufferer.
A thought came to him. It was always nice to receive letters, but why not write them, he could still use his right hand with some difficulty. But to whom could be right?
Was there anyone shut-in and incapacitated like he was who could be encouraged by his letters? He thought of men in prison–they did have some hope of release, whereas he had none–but it was worth a try.
He wrote to a Christian Organization concerned with Prison Ministry. He was told that his letters could not be answered because it was against Prison rules at that time, but he still decided to commence this one-sided correspondence.
He wrote twice a week, and it taxed his strength to the limit. But into the letters he put his whole soul, all his experience, all his faith, all his wit, and all his Christian Hope. Frequently he felt discouraged and was tempted to give it all up. But it was his one remaining activity, and he resolved to continue as long as he could.
At last he got a letter. It was very short, written on Prison stationery by the Officer whose duty it was to censor the mail. All it said was…
“Please write on the best paper you can afford. Your letters are passed from cell to cell till they literally fall to pieces.”
No matter what our weaknesses, shortcomings and disabilities are, in Jesus we have the gifts to encourage someone who is feeling low or to support and encourage others in the work they do for the Lord, none of God’s good work will go unseen and only He knows fully the good fruit that will be produced through our sharing His Love and faithfulness in the lives of others, some may even come to heart repentance on their deathbeds through the seeds of Love and Truth that we have planted.
We can be assured that God will lift us up in His time as we continue to do His good works and others will also be lifted up and so glorify God because of His Loving intervention through us. The only thing that we can take with us into Eternity is our faithfulness in giving our best regardless of the cost when doing God’s work that He has prepared in advance and equipped us to do for Him. (Colossians 3:17)
There will be no condemnation for us who are in Christ Jesus in Heaven, only rewards for what we did to show Jesus’ Love, and Compassion in our lives through our faithfulness to serve Him with the gifts He has given us and by our willingness to obey His guidlines and Commandments, not out of fear but because we Love Him and others.
How wonderful that even now we can be greatly blessed and rewarded through experiencing His Love, Joy Hope, Peace, Rest in Christ Jesus and in Heaven with these Eternal rewards we will be very rich indeed and our commendation will come from The Lord…” Well done good and faithful Servant “
These Scriptures are very good to Meditate on…
Colossians 3:16-17 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
Galatians 6:9-10 “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
1 Peter 3:13-15 “And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defence to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.”
