A Williams from Collingwood Melbourne wrote … we live in a semi rural area and we recently had a new Neighbour who wrote to the Public Works Dept with a request for the removal of the Wombat Crossing sign on our road … The reason ” Too many wombats may be killed by the large volume of cars that pass through here in the Holiday season and I don’t think this is a safe place for them to be advised to cross anymore!”
I`m really glad my name wasn’t on that letter.!
Names are so important arn`t they ? When you are spoken to it`s so nice to have your name mentioned isn`t it?
The Government and like- minded bodies prefer to call you by a number eg. Pension card, Drivers license Health card etc.

Jesus knew the importance of a name He used to identify Himself. It was Sunday 3 days after He had been crucified on the Friday, Mary Magdalene had seen the empty tomb and was distraught and wondered what had happened to Him. As she moved out into the garden, tears coursing down her face she sensed someone behind her, thinking it was the gardener; she asked if He knew what had happened to Jesus body.
Now Jesus not wanting her to have further distress quickly reassured her, so there could be no doubt. The best way to do that, He called her name, Mary! And joy immediately overflowed in her heart as she recognized her Lord and Master, Jesus warned her not to touch Him as He had not fully ascended to the Father, only His Spirit, His body and soul were still in Hell Acts 2:31 and would be for the three days and three nights after His death on the cross as He had foretold, but He spoke softly and reassured Mary Lovingly.
How wonderful that in a garden your name was verbalised by a Heavenly tongue and said with Love . Oh how He Loves to call each one of us by our name for Jesus said in Luke 10.20b ” but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven ”
God was wanting to surprise Mary in that garden, He Loves to do that, when we are at our lowest He longs to uplift us; why can’t He sometimes ? because we have closed Him off, our focus and passion is on worldly things.

I believe your the person who calls himself Shirley, that is your choice but then there was a song about a man called Shirley so it fits, in response to your comment Shirley, we both put this Post together and so we are united as are others in our rejection of your own understanding of Jesus Christ being Crucified on the Wednesday, this shows you are in error and that your Mathematics are not in agreement with Scripture or with what Jesus foretold about His death and resurrection. What you are lacking is the understanding that comes from God’s wisdom, you are depending on your own earthly wisdom or someone else’s, so you are deceived.
Scripture tells us that Jesus was crucified 3 days before He appeared in the Spirit to the 2 Disciples on the Road to Emmaus which was the day after the Sabbath and that was Sunday the first day of the week, which tells us His crucifixion was good Friday, Jesus also appeared to Mary in the Spirit on the Sunday Morning , His body and soul was still in hell until He appeared again to His Disciples and ate with them after being fully resurrected, before this as Jesus foretold just as Job was in the whales belly for 3 days and 3 nights His body would be in hell too, His Spirit was not, as shown when He said to the prisoner on the cross who repented they would be in Paradise that day and they were in The Spirit.

Simple mathematics and the word of God combined show us that Jesus was actually crucified on a Wednesday else he could not have lain in the tomb for three days.

As a worker in children’s ministry for many years, I know the importance of using a child’s name often. It is wonderful to see a face light up in response to their name, and this is especially so in the case of a child from an unhappy or abusive home. While many adults don’t see the connection, using a child’s name adds value to the child.
I don’t think adults are much different. I know I am pleased to be called by name, even though for many years I hated my name and felt most uncomfortable if I had to use it myself.
Above all, I love it when my loving Father calls me by name.
Thanks Ron

Thanks Angela, you of all people, someone who has worked in childrens ministry , would have witnessed the pleasure of calling an abused or unhappy child to yourself ,by their name. It`s a unique pleasure to experience that yourself any time ,isn`t it ?

Hello Rita, Anne told me about you and her sharing today, how sad that you have both known the harsher realities of life, but God got you through them as He did me. Anne said you are a beautiful person and she is seldom wrong, we will be praying for complete healing for you Rita, like Anne had with most of her illnesses.

Great message and so encouraging. I have known His immediate uplifting of my heart and soul. We sure do sometimes get in His way with our focus turned elsewhere. His love never fails though. He is risen! Alleluia!

Thank you Love or should I say Ron, a great message and I loved the wombat joke. It is True, I like people to call me by my name, although when you call me Love or honey it gives me a buzz, but mostly using names is respect and I seek to do the same for others but it is hard with Blogging, you don’t always know their name and I don’t feel comfortable with a Blog name but it is their choice, still I do appreciate knowing a friend in The Lord by their birth name, at least till we get to Heaven.
But how wonderful when Jesus calls me by my name, or sometimes He calls me Annie, sometimes His Loved one, not audibly but in my heart and I feel like I have just been hugged.
