The Rusty Nails

As you may know I mostly share Stories that other gifted Christens have written, I also like to link to your messages and I do this to encourage us all in how God has spoken to us His Children . Now I know a few Bloggers may feel I make up for it when I leave a comment but I do seek the Lord in how to respond to your messages as I know you do when you write them, but I am a cracked vessel and may get a name wrong or spelling or punctuation etc  but  I’m very careful not to share anything that isn’t confirmed in the Scriptures  and I do not Trust in men’s fleshy or worldly, wisdom and  understanding no matter how good it sounds. I know my wordage is often long, condensing is not easy for me as I never know what to leave out, so please be patient with me as I share today  something with you that is very close to my heart.

I learnt  a wonderful Truth with one of my Poems, I know I promised a few people that I would explain about  the Sign and Wonder I had when I wrote most of my Poems in July 2006 and I will but today I what to share how God used one of them to chastise and correct me, it is a lesson I will never forget it’s embedded in my heart… The  Poem is called “Hands of Love.”

 Hands Of Love

His hands reached out in infinitive embrace drawing mankind from every race, His Love He gave without restraint not counting the cost given to save the dying and lost.

The rusty nails left their mark tearing away His very heart, yet the greatest pain He did bear was knowing with the Father He could not share,

For sin had barred the Heavenly gate leaving  an emptiness in its wake, Through His agony and despair His Love for us was constantly there, calling the Father to set us free so we would Lovingly come and bow our knees.

What was lost was regained a Child was given then reclaimed, death could not hold Him down for the King of Life wears a Golden crown.

The Truth of the cross is plain to see mankind given liberty, Christ’s blood shed to cover and wash away our sin as  The Holy Ghost is placed within, Eternity proclaimed through His Name and we no longer bear the shame.

The Saviour’s hands stretched out for us because the Father knew we would accept the gift of life through His Son who paid the price.

When I penned this Poem like some of my other Poetry there was a statement in it that I did not understand, in this one it was the rusty nails, at first I thought perhaps they used rusty nails to nail Jesus to the cross, I don’t have a problem with it being called a tree as some do because a cross was made from a tree but what  someone has wisely shared…

Christ’s cross has a vertical beam which is longer and goes deeper than the horizontal beam, as it is the one that represents the connection with God. Also, without that vertical beam, the horizontal beam could not be supported. Of course, without the horizontal beam, we would not have a cross! That beam represents our reaching out to others, while the relationship with the Father is represented by the vertical beam. I think this is beautiful don’t you?

Matthew 16:24  Then said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

When pondering on the rusty nails  God  spoke to my heart and reminded me of this verse of Scripture below, although the whole passage is powerful.

Matthew 6 :20 -21 But lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Last year  I trod on a long rusty nail it went right through my slipper, it was quiet painful and I thought I would have to have a  Tetanus  shot with the nail being rusty, but when  I examined my foot after pulling the nail out of my Slipper and expecting to see blood, there was none,  nor could I find the puncher hole where the nail had pieced my skin and there was no more pain.

I knew God was speaking to me again but at the time I could not understand what He was saying,  did God put the nail where I could tread on it,  no He didn’t but He knew I would and used it to get my attention by healing me. He also did not nail Jesus His beloved Son to the cross our sins did,  but He used it for good. Jesus ‘ sacrificial death that we read about from the beginning of the Bible to the end shows  God knew what would be needed to Redeem us so we would no longer be under Satan’s control and because He knew many  would not listen and that no one  could obey in the flesh.  Jesus paid the price,  He willingly died because He Loved His Father and us, it was the only way we could be set free.

The next  morning I woke up with these words in my mind … Jesus paid the price not only to save us from punishment but to set us free from the sin that nailed Him to the tree… Jesus has been teaching me this Truth by the Holy Spirit for some time  and has confirmed it in Scripture which I’m happy to share it’s called Freedom in Christ Jesus and it is not about earning your Salvation or  loosing it,  it’s a wonderful Truth that gives freedom.

I should be in pain, I should be suffering, I have sinned greatly,  I have hurt God and others but God forgave me setting  me free and healing me,  but if this was all He did then how sad it would be because I would keep nailing Him to the tree, but He also died so I would walk in victory and be set free from the slavery and bondage of sin that made it necessary for Him to choose to be pierced for me…”Not my will but yours Father” He knew that His Father Loved us so much He could not bear to see us suffer eternally.

For some time I had been very worried about the budget balancing, although I do cook to help  but I was worrying about it so much that I lost my peace, God showed me that the rusty nails was my worldly focus and that I was not  Trusting in Him  to provide and that the material things or chattels in my  life would just rust and have no value in Eternity. Jesus was pieced for our transgressions and Materialism is a god to many, it is Idolatry and separates us from God as all sin does.

Romans  6:11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Yes I’m still learning and I’m not perfected in Love yet although I aim to be as God asks us to, by putting to  death our  evil flesh Nature by the Spirit as we choose to walk in His  Fruit reckoning ourselves  dead to sin.

To have  the mind of Christ is to see what He sees, To know what He knows, To choose what He chooses, To Love has He Loves and I know it is to be a reality because God has promised us we will be conformed to the image of His Son  and we will walk as Jesus  does because we don’t walk alone and no temptation will be greater than we can bear, He will strengthen us. Jesus is our constant Friend and He walks with us and He talks to us and He tells us  that we are His own. He paid the price not us, how wonderful to be set free from sin but not just its  punishment but it’s hold on us.

Lamentations 3: 33 For He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.

John 8:34-36  Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

  1. Whenever we are sad, alone, and close to despair we just need to look up at the cross and there he is with open hands embracing all that suffering so that we may have life and in abundance!

    • Thank you for sharing Caleb, your words were full of great Truth and yes the Treasure we have in Heaven is so much greater than anything we can have on earth, except for God’s Love that can’t be counted by earthly reckoning, it’s abundance keeps overflowing and fills us up with great inner Joy, regardless of the circumstances.

God bless you greatly Caleb as you have blessed me and I’m sure others – Anne.

Thank you isaiah43123 I still find it amazing that I wrote those poems having not wriiten any for most of my life rhyming it is something that a lot of people who are Dyslistic cant do and nor could I eccept for a few unfinshed poems in my my young Adult years and when I was 14 after being told that Jesus was a made up story.and then there was the sign and wonder as well. We do indeed have an awesome God.

  7. To say that your comments and messages are a blessing and that your heart to encourage and inspire are a gift from God somehow doesn’t come close to being a sufficient statement. I’m especially appreciative of your inclusion of the budget concern as this is a huge issue with me and one in which I find I’m challenged daily to hold fast to the heart of Jesus. I’ve virtually no income at all with just a 2 hour a week paying job and while the human eyes do not know how to go on, He said “follow me” and those rusty nails which ripped flesh and bone for my sin are the answer to all my needs. Thank you for this post! I didn’t realize you were a poet. I’ve enjoyed that form of expression since childhood. Blessings to you Sister!
