This is a True story, It was a widely-publicized controversy surrounding the 2001 graduation ceremonies of Washington Community High School in Peoria, Illinois. According to an Associated Press report from May 17, 2001
They walked in tandem, each of the ninety-two Students filing into the already crowded Auditorium. With their rich maroon gowns flowing and the traditional caps, they looked almost as grown up as they felt. Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and Moms freely brushed away tears.
This class would NOT pray during the commencements, not by choice, but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it.
The Principal and several students were careful to stay within the guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for blessings on the graduates or their families.
The speeches were nice, but they were routine until the final speech received a standing ovation.
Ryan Brown, one of the speakers paused during his speech to bow his head and pray silently. The Peoria Journal Star newspaper said that after the silent prayer, Ryan “feigned a sneeze” so the audience could respond with a “God bless you.”
And he walked off the stage…
The audience exploded into applause. This graduating class had found a unique way to invoke God’s blessing on their future with or without the court’s approval.
Isn’t this a wonderful story to encourage and uplift.

Hi andtheword thanks for your e-mail I received it and the link as I shared with you my story now is the correct one, as far as other websites reported it the name of the University was in error but I have corrected it and added a link to confirm it’s Truth.
But to be honest I take what some websites say when reporting on Christian stories very lightly, their ok with most others because they can be sued but not so with Christian stories. In the past I have found that it is them who is in error, one of their writers claimed to be Christian but then said the cross has no relevance and another time implied Christians are liars but after checking on their facts I found what they present as truth was mostly hearsay, they had no real facts and others follow their lead.
Because they don’t believe they can’t understand the things of God including Miricles and signs and wonders 1Corinthians 2: 9-16 . I wrote a few times with proof they were in error but they did not reply and still left their reporting saying what they believed which was in error, other times when there is no doubt that a Christian story is True even though they have been asked, they don’t report on it … we need to be very careful what we accept on the Internet.

Political correctness has gone mad, but there are many instances – as this one – of people getting round the rules. God’s witness will NOT be silenced.
Let us do our part by speaking out whenever and wherever we have opportunity, because the way things are headed, it won’t be long before “they” try to silence us.

Hi Angela, sorry I missed some of the comments on this post but yes I agree 100% with you and so does the Scriptures, our time is short going by prophesy and what is happening in the world, like Political correctness.
If we back down then we will loose the Joy that comes from faithfulness God is great lets tell the world and lets reasure those who are hurting that God’s Loves them.
