As kids we decided to duplicate one of mankinds greatest discoveries. We found we could make fire using a magnifying glass, some dry grass clippings ,some dry newspaper and a hot sun . The latter we had plenty of in Brisbane Queensland.
We were so excited by our discoveries and got a bit carried away when we burnt down our wooden Cubby house we had in the backyard .
Mum had to come and put it out and was not impressed that ,we all had a dose of castor oil as punishment for misbehaving !!!
A much better way of applying the principle of magnifying something is a scriptural one. In Psalm 34:3 he says” Oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name forever,” (K.J.V )
So what happens when you magnify something ? You enlarge it you can see it much better, it changes your focus, it changes your outlook. That`s what the psalmist says, exultation or praise acts like a magnifying glass . It helps us see that God is bigger than our problems.
What changes ? our focus changes, instead of dwelling on our problem and getting discouraged,we now see the bigger picture, we enlarge our view of God, this in turn builds our faith. And the reason that we can walk by faith, is that we know regardless of what is going on around us,God is working on our behalf.
In 2 Corinthians 5 :7 “We walk by faith not by sight”
So by magnifying the Lord with our praise, we see clearly God working on our behalf.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that Love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
