Ron’s Corner – Magnify The Lord

As kids we decided to duplicate one of mankinds greatest discoveries. We found we could make fire using a magnifying glass, some dry grass clippings ,some dry newspaper and a hot sun . The latter we had plenty of in Brisbane Queensland.
We were so excited by our discoveries and got a bit carried away when we burnt down our wooden Cubby house we had in the backyard .
Mum had to come and put it out and was not impressed that ,we all had a dose of castor oil as punishment for misbehaving !!!
A much better way of applying the principle of magnifying something is a scriptural one. In Psalm 34:3 he says” Oh magnify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name forever,” (K.J.V )
So what happens when you magnify something ? You enlarge it you can see it much better, it changes your focus, it changes your outlook.  That`s what the psalmist says, exultation or praise acts like a magnifying glass . It helps us see that God is bigger than our problems.

What changes ? our focus changes, instead of dwelling on our problem and getting discouraged,we now see the bigger picture, we enlarge our view of God, this in turn builds our faith. And the reason that we can walk by faith, is that we know regardless of what is going on around us,God is working on our behalf.

In 2 Corinthians 5 :7 “We walk by faith not by sight”
So by magnifying the Lord with our praise, we see clearly God working on our behalf.
Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that Love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.

Ron, I keep going back to “with me and let us” in the verse from Psalms… we are to be connected in this action. Reminds of “where two or three are gathered”… there is power in numbers when gathered in His name.

    LOL, Castor Oil…
Love to have a nickle for every time I’ve heard my mama speak of being punished with that stuff. Even when it wasn’t for punishment, seems she took it as such,,,I recall her saying she couldn’t stand orange soda even today, as when she had it as a child, was only when she was made to take Castor Oil for medicinal purposes.

I appreciate your visiting, and commenting on my latest post, and just wanted you to know…I’m not into Vampires and such either. Strangely enough, the post for the average reader, and especially those who know the Lord, couldn’t possibly be mistaken as a Gospel sharing post, and yet, I have faith that it indeed.

It was written in honor of a fellow blogger; ( The Hook ) Who is a Bell Hop up in Canada. He is a great family man, and is a little into Super Hero’s with a wife that apparently enjoys the latest TV craze of the whole…Vampire thing. Anyway, if you have navigated my site at all you’ve likely noticed more writings about Jesus, and His Kingdom than anything else.

Hook, unlike more than a dozen other visitors to my site, who don’t know the Lord…Yet, doesn’t shy away , or, avoid visiting and reading my post just because the words, Cross, Jesus, or God show up in the titles. Sadly, many do. Hook has actually even come to me on a personal level and revealed that he was searching, as things just weren’t going the way he thought life should be, and sort of feeling he was missing something. I know without a doubt that a seed has been planted, if you know what I mean…

So, I wrote that particular article, ( Humorously of course ) mainly, to inhibit walls of religiosity, and to thwart any stereo typical feelings he may have that we Christians are untouchable, or insensitive to life before Christ. Anyway, here’s the Hooks link, and if you read a little you’ll see where I came up with the Characters etc…
    Bless You

  6. “Magnify the Lord”
That is our purpose as we write here. We want to exalt Him together, and hopefully encourage one another. This is good, but a greater blessing comes when we exalt and magnify the Lord in the world, among those who do not know Him. May this be our focus and may our acquaintances be able to see the love of the Lord is us and desire what we have.

Of course as you say Meetingin the clouds the real test is in the world, how we handle that is the ultimate challenge. Thank you for your comments

Thank you for your comments dd16591569 , you sre so right ,there is no better thing we can ever do ,but try to be close to God every day. Some times ,if you are like me ,we fail to adequately do that.
