“Is it really possible to Love and care for our enemies and let go of the bitterness and resentment that we have in our hearts?”are we willing to forgive and seek to restore as God does with us.
As Christians this is what the Lord asks us to do but without His Love we cannot do this, it’s only as we seek His Compassion and Understanding that we can put ourselves in someone’s shoes and see why they are angry, hurting and in pain does this mean we are to accept the wrong they do…
No we are to rebuke, correct and warn but not condemn.
Perhaps it was something we did to them unknowingly and we need to say sorry, or perhaps they have not dealt with their own hurts and this causes bitterness which they project onto others, if so we need to pray for healing for them…
Hurt people hurt people or themselves…and we have all been hurt.
Or perhaps there is judgment without Love because of Pride or they are in error in what they believe so Repentance and Forgiveness is needed, but whatever the reason God asks us to Love our enemies and do good to them.
The Scriptures tell us to do good to our enemies, we are to pray for them and also show we care and in doing this we will heap burning coals on their head, does that mean God wants our motivation for doing good to our enemies to be motivated by revenge.

Revenge is not good and our motivation needs to be because of Love not hate. Does offering Love instead of hate mean that our enemies will always respond back with Love…
No sadly sometimes their response will be unloving, this is what God is meaning in regard to the burning coals, they will be accountable for their resentment or unforgiverness but whatever their response is, this should not govern our reactions or actions, what we do needs always to be motivated by God’s Love.

“We may have an enemy but we don’t have to be one.”

If all Christians followed this, there would be more Christians, but sadly unbelievers do not see much difference.

Hi meetinginthecloud, yes sadly it is true what you say… I’m not proud of this, although I know I’m forgiven but having sinned greatly in my life it would be very hard for me to think I’m better then anyone else and so choose not to forgive them, we are all cable of doing evil in the flesh that is why we must put it to death by the Holy Spirit.

Good truth in what you say ,it takes animals to show us how to relate to each other . God has no favourites , thankfully , thanks for highlighting something important.
