Don’t Ever Give Up

One day I decided to quit…
I quit my job, my relationship,
 my spirituality…
I wanted to quit my life, to give it all up and
just be a hermit, I don’t need anybody.
I went to the woods to have one
last talk with God.
“God”, I asked,
“Can you give me one good reason
not to quit?”
His answer surprised me…
“Look around”, He said…
“Do you see the fern and the bamboo?”
“Yes”, I replied.
“When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds,
I took very good care of them.
I gave them light, I gave them water.
The fern quickly grew from the earth.
Its brilliant green covered the floor.
Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo.
In the second year the fern grew more
 vibrant and plentiful.
And again, nothing came from the
bamboo seed.
But I did not quit on the bamboo.”
 He said.
“In year three there was still nothing from
the bamboo seed.
But I would not quit.
In year four, again, there was nothing
 from the bamboo seed.
I would not quit.” He said.
“Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout
emerged from the earth.
Compared to the fern it was seemingly
 small and insignificant…
But just 6 months later the bamboo
rose to over 100 feet tall.
It had spent the five years growing roots.
Those roots made it strong and gave
it what it needed to survive.
I would not give any of my creations
a challenge it could not handle.”
He asked me …
“Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been
struggling, you have actually been growing roots.
I would not quit on the bamboo.
I will never quit on you.”
“Don’t compare yourself to others.” He said.
“The bamboo had a different Purpose
than the fern.
Yet they both make the forest beautiful.”
“Your time will come”, God said to me.
“You will rise high.”
“How high will I rise?” I asked.
“How high will the bamboo rise?”
 He asked in return.
“As high as it can?” I questioned.
“Yes.” He said…..
“I will raise you up as you give me the Glory,
for in doing so My Radiance is
reflected in you.”
And you will know my Love, Hope, Peace, Joy, and Eternal rest,
because my Melody in you will glow like
The Colours of The Rainbow.
I left the forest and brought back this story.
I know these words can help us see that…
God will never give up on us.
Never, Never, Never
 Give up.
We don’t need to tell the Lord how big the problem is…
We need to remember how…
Great the Lord is!

“The Key question in life is not how strong are we, but how strong is God.”

For the Christian Prayer is not an option,
but an opportunity to share
in the Heart of God.
Music – Because He Lives I Can Face Tomorrow
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.
Because He lives, all fear is gone.
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth a living
Just because He lives.

  1. I have been in the place of wanting to quit. I have been in the place of planning my own death (the thing that stopped me was the idea of failure and of becoming a cripple – and of course, though I didn’t know it at the time, God’s plans for me).

At 22 years old my life changed completely when God revealed Himself to me and I became His adopted child. In the 53 years that followed I have known His love and care, His protection and providence, His teaching and guidance, His challenge and encouragement . . . the list could go on. During those years self often got in the way, but His care never stopped.

Now, I can look back on all the troubled times and see His hand faithfully at work and I can truthfully thank Him for every little hiccup along the way, because with hindsight, I can see that the times of my biggest troubles were the times of my biggest spiritual growth. He used those times to “grow” me.

  2. Patience and trust. God is faithful if we wait for His timing. One of my posts for the ChristianBlessings site is about waiting for Him to work out my writing. Will be posting it in a day or two. And one of my favorite hymns! Thank you!

So True Drusila, Patience and trust and of course obedience… will everything happen instantly, some maybe but with others they will take time but we can Trust God to keep His promises, they will happen. He makes all things Beautiful in His time. I will be praying Dru for God’s equipping and leading with your writing .

I Love all types of Music but not when it has been distorted by man or is loud and repetitious but very much enjoy, Hymns, Psalms meaning Scripture in Song and Spiritual songs with the right words they teach and uplift us but God tells us to have them in balance.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

      Christian Love Anne.

  3. Ron says:

nice story on patience ,is something I need to learn lots about !

    • Freedomborn says:

Hi Ron, I think it is me that needed to learn patience, you always encouraged me not to give up when I use to become so frustrated with being Dyslectic and you wisely advised me to accept it and to see the good things in it instead of focusing on the bad and it was you who without complaining corrected the errors I made with the Power points and e-mails that I created, remember how many times you have had to correct …then or is it than? patience is one of your strengths not one of your faults.

Thank you friend – Christian Love Anne.
