Love Does Not Give Up

One day a David was walking along an isolated road when he heard something like a crying sound. He couldn’t tell for sure what the sound was but it seemed to be coming from underneath a bridge. As he approached the bridge, the sound got louder and then he saw a pathetic sight. There, lying in the muddy riverbed, was a puppy about two months old. It had a gash on its head and was covered with mud. Its front legs were swollen where they had been tightly bound with cords.

David was immediately moved with compassion and wanted to help the puppy, but as he approached, the crying stopped and the puppy snarled his lip and started to growl. But David did not give up. He sat down and started gently talking to the puppy. It took a long time but eventually the dog stopped growling and David was able to inch forward and eventually touch the dog and begin unwrapping the tightly bound cord.

David carried the puppy home, cared for its wounds, gave it food and water and a warm bed, Even with all of this, the puppy continued to snarl and growl every time David approached but he did not give up. He called the puppy Bobby.

Weeks went by and David lovingly cared for the puppy he was patient and continued to talk gently to Bobby . Then one day, as David approached, Bobby wagged his tail…

Consistent Love and Kindness had won and a lifelong friendship of loyalty and trust began.

1John 3:18 Dear Children, let us not Love with words or tongue but with Actions and in Truth.

Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to declare the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To declare the acceptable year of the Lord.

Hi Bible Man, thank you, but no I didn’t write this story although I do write stories, jokes, and poems. This one was sent to me a few years ago, it reminded me of you and Punkey perhaps who ever wrote it knew someone like you who also had a caring heart.

I’m sorry if I embarrassed you,B.M I believe very much in encouraging and commending the good others do, we are to esteem each other in The Lord and believe me if you were my son and I’m old enough to be your Mother, I would be very proud of you, now you tell Wendy, to treat you well ….and of course you treat her well too.

Hi Ron, yes poor little dog it was so abused by uncaring, self centred people no wonder he responded as he did but real Love healed his wounds and his crushed spirit.

As for patience in my own life, I have found that it follows walking in Love, meaning God’s Sacrificial Love not worldly love but when I hurt like the puppy, I walk in the flesh but I’m seeking to put it to death by The Holy Spirit as I choose to walk in righteousness so I will have all the fruit of the Spirit not just patience.

Keep your eyes open you may find a wounded spirit that you can practice your Godly Love and patience on , as they say practice makes perfect.

      Christian Love Anne.
