A Servant in a very wealthy and honourable household had two large pots, one of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the Servant bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the Servant one day by the stream. “I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.”
The Servant smiled, “Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot’s side? That’s because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.”
“For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the Masters table.”Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.”
Each of us has our own unique flaws…
But if we allow it, the Lord will use our flaws to grace His Fathers table because in God’s great economy nothing goes to waste.
It’s the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together interesting and rewarding so we need to remember to be thankful and appreciate all the different people in our lives giving thanks to God for the beauty we see in them and uplifting and encouraging them to use the their gifts and yes even their disabilities to give glory to Him by sharing with others and helping them.
Yes sometimes we may need to correct a wrong attitude in ourselves or warn others in our Church family when they continue in sin without repentance, but we do this always with Love and compassion being ever mindful that we too can stumble and fall as we Journey to perfection in Christ Jesus.
With weakness or shortcomings in ourselves and others we need always to be tolerant and understanding, trusting the Lord to mould and shape us and others into the vessels He wants us to be we remember we may be cracked but He is the Super glue. so we are faithfull to do what He asks….
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. 2 Timothy 20- 21
