Letter from a Granddaughter…
A Grandmother is a lady who has no children of her own. She likes other people’s little girls and boys. A Grandfather is a man Grandmother, he goes for walks with the boy’s and they talks them fishing and stuff like that.
Grandmothers don’t have to do anything except to be there. They’re so old that they shouldn’t play hard or run. It is enough if they drive us to the market where the pretend horse is and have lots of coins ready. Or if they take us for walks they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars, they never say, “Hurry up.”
Some Grandmothers are big, but not too big to tie your shoes. They wear glasses and funny underwear. They can take their teeth and gums off.
Grandmothers don’t have to be smart, only answer questions like,”Why isn’t God married?” and “How come dogs chase cats?”

Grandmothers don’t talk baby talk like visitors do, because it is hard to understand. When they read to us they don’t skip, or mind if it’s the same story over again and they are good fun.
Everybody should try to have a Grandmother, especially if they don’t have a Television, because they are only grown-ups who have time.

Love your Grandmother she is worth it (Grandfather is too!)

I just found this today. Loved it! I have to be the ‘other grandmother’ since my kids aren’t even married, much less fathers. We do what my late husband called the Rent-A-Kid thing; we borrowed other people’s kids and took them places and did things with them, along with our own two sons. We have some friends whose kids called me and my late husband the ‘other mother’ and ‘other father’ because we were always involved in their lives too. So special. Now they call my ‘new (9 years)’ husband ‘other father.’ 🙂 And we get to be ‘other grandparents’ to their kids. Pretty special!!

Hi LubbyGirl, you have indeed uplifted and encouraged me by looking for my Post, sorry but at the time I didn’t have a link and I still continue to look for it, it’s about the Scriptures and is very short but thank you so much for looking for it, I will find the link for you.
How wonderful that you have blessed other peoples Children, and been blessed by them, I too with not having my Children born alive have also been greatly blessed by enjoying other peoples. I’m called Aunty Anne and Granny Annie by those I cared for over the years and Ron is called Uncle Ron by them. The Children I taught in RE called me Mrs Anne like those in my Funday Schools and like you I have known much Joy. I continually thank The Lord that He always works everything out for good, even in my never being able to enjoy my own Children growing up, but one day wonderfully we will all be together in His eternal embrace.

Laying next to my baby girl (2) right now, finally got her to sleep at one am so I can now check my mail. She’s a big grandma fan, but doesn’t like to share with her siblings :). I love getting some alone time with them on occasion so they don’t have to share for a little bit. I love this. I still have all my own teeth, but some of the rest of it hits home :). Angie

Your beautiful Angie, how I wish I had known a Grandmother like you are to your Grandchildren, just to hear her talk about the good old days and to share my secrets with her. I Love the elderly they have wonderful life wisdom and as Christians, Godly wisdom, I feel great sadness when they are not respected and are made fun of, sometimes even for things that they suffer with… would we laugh if someone broke their leg or went blind ?
Another Link for you Angie, a serious Grandmother message this time, I hope you enjoy it – Blog Link – https://freedomborn.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/grandmas-apron/

Aw thank you! Everyone should have a grandma (blood or not). I already read that post 🙂 I had a great grandmother (one of them), and my mother was a great grandmother, so I have a long legacy to live up to. God wasn’t kidding when he said they were a ‘crown’. I wish you would have had some of those things in your life too, but you lived what you needed to be the wonderful person you are :). Angie

Hi Angie from what you shared, you live up to the legacy very well, yes I’m thankful that God has moulded and shaped me in Love and healed me of the pain and suffering that was inflicted on me by others and myself , there was a time that I was like an iceberg and could not even cry, this was not God’s will nor was all the hardship I endured which the Scriptures make very clear, they tell us to say God does evil to bring good out of it is slander, God is Love and dose not do evil or does He willingly allow it for His own purposes…. How good is that!

I agree with that. I would never say God brings bad to bring good. He knows what you’re going to go through, and brings you through it and makes good out of it. He does not cause it, though. I have certainly had my own issues (childhood and otherwise) but I’ve had a lot of recovery over the years. I can definately say I wouldn’t change anything because I can see God’s hand through it all. He has used it all for my good and for the good of others who I am uniquely qualified to help. Same for you 🙂 Angie

Spot on Angie, it hurts me to hear people blame God for the evil that happens to them, they would not plan or willingly allow evil to cause their own Children to suffer so they can learn who is boss and God is our Loving Abba Father and His Love for us His Redeemed Children, is very great.
God does discipline us by allowing us to suffer the wrong we choose to do, to bring us to repentance like the Prodigal son but it grieves Him that we ignore and disobey His guidelines because He knows we will reap what we sow and will then suffer and have hardship but He will never go against our free will, He does not want puppets. But yes as you shared Angie. He works everything in our lives for good and also moulds and shapes us by The Fruit of The Spirit as we choose to walk in them with His empowering.
Thanks for sharing and listening, both are very important for communication but not only to learn but to also bring us together Heart to Heart.

Hi Dei , I’m pleased you liked the Grandmother Story, whoever wrote it was very gifted and thank you for sharing my poem Creation with you Little Granddaughter, sometimes a Child can understand what a Adult cannot, I think we get too conditioned by worldly values .

Thanks for this tribute, Honey,
The only statement that is not true of me is:” A Grandmother is a lady who has no children of her own”. I not only have children and grandchildren of my own living with me, but have many in my neighborhood. There are probably hundred of people who are my “grandchildren” and I love them so much. They enrich my life!
Love and hugs,

Hi Gramma Velta, I’m pleased you liked my way of giving you a hug, I think whoever wrote this humorous view of Grandmothers was very gifted but sometimes we do not always see what their focus is, some joking can be evil or even dangerous and cruel.
With this joke the writer has included humour with Truth, of course you can’t be a real Grandmother without having had Children of your own even if you have adopted them like you did me. Many of my Children ( other peoples) also call me Granny Annie and I even take out my Teeth, so like you I also have a big family, I have taught Scripture for over 15 years and run Funday Schools for Children in my Neighbourhood, which mostly they come from non Christian families, it gives me great Joy when they finally understand that Jesus Loves them and who He is.
Love you so Gramma Velta, your Annie.
