Reblogged from The Watchman - Illuminating lives through the light of His Word:
The righteous is concerned for the rights of the poor,
The wicked does not understand such concern. - Proverbs 29:7.
I live in Lagos, a bustling metropolis in Nigeria. Lagos really is a special place for many reasons. It is a city where the great divide between the rich and the poor is so clear for all to see. It is a city where an elite few live in homes more expensive than prime areas in the US whilst a vast majority struggle to get their hands on a couple of dollars a day.

There is so much poverty and abuse throughout much of the world, that we could easily just throw up our hands and say that the little we could do wouldn’t make any difference at all, but we know that isn’t true. We CAN make a difference and we SHOULD do all we can and certainly all that the Lord lays on our heart.
Yes very True Angela. if everyone helped there would be no povety in the world but sadly people are too focused on money.
Thank you for Sharing
I’m not sure that we could rule out poverty, Anne, but it would sure make a huge difference if everyone did their part.
I believe that if it were possible for all the combined wealth of the world to be gathered and distributed equally to each and every person, it would only be a very short time before we once again had the extremely rich and the extremely poor and everything in between. Evil and corruption cannot be wiped out. There would still be people walking over the top of others to get ahead and get to the top and sadly there would also be those who would be wasters and wouldn’t work.
Even Jesus said we will always have the poor with us (but that is no excuse to ignore them and their plight). We must do our bit.
Thank you Angela, I think Watchman answered that point very well but as you wisley pointed out evil and corruption cannot be wiped by man but God has us covered and in Christ Jesus we do not have to fear the Devil, if we are Born again he cannot touch us because we do no evil. Good and bad cannot co-exist they are not in unity, so we stink of death to the Devil and he takes off, that is what it means to come close to God when we have His seed or nature ( 1 John3:9 ) the devil flees but if we live as the world lives he can hurt us through our sin and this shows we have not been Born again. Yes the devil may aim his arrows at us through fleshy people under his control but they miss the mark which is to crush our spirit and turn us away from God.
Christian Love Anne.
Yes I agree Anne, Watchmans story really highlights Prov 28 v27 and he is for sure a man of integrity and compassion, it`s an example for others.
